PDFs and Robo6 WebHelp

Hi,

I'm trying to link to a PDF from an OLH created using Robo6 (WebHelp), but the link is not working. I tried Rick Stone's proposed solution (i.e., unchecked "Add Mark on the Web") in Peter Grainge's site, but I'm getting a Javascript error. The look of the TOC also changed. Is there another fix I should try?

I appreciate your help.

OK. Is this problem occurring when you generate the help and view it locally or after the help is put on the server?

Use the menu (bottom right) to mark the Best Answer or Highlight particularly useful replies. Found the answer elsewhere? Share it here.

Hi there

When you generate your WebHelp, my guess is that you are using the "Mark Of The Web (MOTW)" feature. With MOTW enabled, any links to things such as PDF or Word content will fail when you run locally. This is because if you are on the local file system, nasty things can be done to you. So the browser blocks links like that.

If you place the content on a server, you should be fine. Or, you could remove MOTW if you wish to run locally. But then you will have to cope with the Yellow Information Bar if you view the content in IE.

Life is always a trade-off, eh?

Please point me to exactly where that information is so that I can see the context.

That change alone would not cause any javascript error that was not already there nor would it change the look of the TOC.
