Hi there

It would be infinitely more helpful to us if you could describe what you mean when you say "Perma Link".

In your world what exactly is a Perma Link?

I'm guessing you mean to ask about some form of "Permanent Link". But in my mind that can mean a few different things.

Cheers... Rick

Hi there

Personally I think the issue is moot. The WikiPedia article you kindly pointed me to says this:

...A permalink, or permanent link, is a URL that points to a specific blog or forum entry after it has passed from the front page to the archives....

As RoboHelp doesn't produce anything resembling a Blog or Forum (where content changes frequently and is often archived) there is no need for anything like that.

Hi Rick,

I've generated a website documentation of my project with Robo help. This website uses frames so when I click though sites my URL in browser does not change.

I would like to have URL changed in browser when I browse through website documentation generated with Robo help. Why? Because I would like to link to subpages of documentation from other parts of my developer environment.

And further more I would like to have these links permanent. So when I generate once again documentation, links will not change so that I will not need to change all links to new.

Hi there

Sounds like you are misunderstanding WebHelp output. As long as you don't change topic names or locations in your project, the links *WILL BE* permanent.

This would seem more to be a question of: How can I determine what a link should be?

Take a look at the links below. They should help you sort it.

Link number one

LInk number two

Hi Rick,

I am taking about the MSDN kind of help system. Once you click on a topic in TOC in MSDN, a new page will be opened inside the frame and the URL also changes in the address bar. I would like to do the same in robo help. The web help which i have created using robo help, if i click on a topic on a TOC, the new page will be opened inside the frame but the url doesn't change in address bar.

Hi there

RoboHelp doesn't produce that type of help system.

It is what it is.

Perhaps another author here has a suggestion. I'm out of ideas. I don't know of any way to achieve what you are looking for. Not with RoboHelp as it works today. Perhaps you should consider submitting a Wish Form to ask for this behavior to be added to a future version.

Cheers... Rick
