Popup from 2017 to 2022

Good afternoon all,

During our migration I run into yet another issue. It seems that the pop up in 2017 were using  onclick script but in 2022 it is using data-rhwidget therefore all my pops are broken and we have 3200 topics with popups how can I fix this 😞

Thank you

christele

Hello.  I'm not sure if I should start a new topic or if this one is similar enough.  My company is looking to upgrade from 2017 to 2022, and the text only popups don't seem to be working when the 2017 project is upgraded.

Right now we are doing initial testing and unfortunately I don't have access to 2022 on my PC - it's only on the machine of someone in our IT department, so I can't get screen prints until I can get access to that machine again.  But I'd like to at least try to get some information if anyone has it, and can describe what happens.  When previewing a topic, when I click on the popup, it appears to open a new RoboHelp window where I could open or create a new project (doesn't display the popup at all), which is very strange behavior.

In author mode, I can't seem to find where I would insert a new text only popup.  Do text only popups still exist in RoboHelp 2022?  And if so, is there a reason they wouldn't work when upgrading the project?  If not, is there a feature similar to text only popups in 2022?  It's functionality that we use a lot.

    thanks!

    Chris

Make sure that your RH2022 is updated with the last patch (#2 as of May 2023) & then try the upgrade again to test.

Hello!  I got a reply which says that we have this:

Which is really small, but here it is typed out:

    Package Name: RoboHelp 2022.2.0

    Platform: Windows (64-bit)

    Apps: 1

    Language: English

    Activation: Named

    Created on: Apr 17, 2023

    Status: Up to date

Would that be the patch #2 or is there something even newer from May?

    Thanks!

    Chris

On the source control one that doesn't sound right. I think you created a thread for that and I would have expected the replies to include going to Adobe Support.

I think I would also take this one to them as this has not been a general problem. I assume you did use the Upgrade in 2022 rather than import the topics?

The popups should have been converted as part of the upgrade process. The fact you say the process has been painful makes it look like maybe something more fundamental has gone wrong in the upgrade. What sorts of issues have you faced other than this one?

    Good afternoon,

After further testing it seemed that only those which must have not being properly migrated to 2017 were the issues. I had to query all and manually update each 😞

    Thank you

Yes , all my projects went through several RH  migrations and it seem that in 2006 they were not migrated properly  or testing properly and running into codes which dates back to 2006 based on my research which do not migrate well in RH 2022.

I think that includes RoboHelp 8 which had a major bug that messed up the code.

Can you do a find & replace to change them? Never really used any pop up stuff before.

Oh lord I really hope there is a better solution ... I do not know why they decided to have popup instead of new window but there are so many and it will not be a straight find and replace... This migration has been quite painful ...
