When i run the printed documentation, one of the books and topics appears in the chapter layout. However, when the printed document comes out the book and topics aren't present in the Table of contents but the content of the book and topics is present in the body of the document. I have used both my own style sheets and the provided one by word.
Also, I tried to make an Auto-TOC and a majority of the content in the book wasn't present either.
how do i get the book and topics to appear in the Table of Contents of my printed document. also everything shows up fine in the Online Webhelp version

1] Check the heading style of the rogue book and topics in it are the same as others.
2] Try right clicking next to the TOC in the document and select Update.

All the headings are the same. I have made certain of that and the specific book has appeared on the TOC in printed documentation but all the topics under it and the next 6 books after it have dissappeared. And in reference to suggestion 2. I have it created into a PDF, and when i right click next to the TOC there is no update. I am not sure where you mean to right click?

Create a Word document instead.

Hmm! Check in the Word document that the missing headings have come through with Word heading styles. Try reapplying them and updating.
After that, see Print Issues on my site to see if anything there helps.

When i go through and change all the word heading styles to what it should be and then update it works. Thats only a cure to a sympton though. I need to get it so everytime i print out to pdf it works right. I went through your page but it doesn't seem to help me any. I can't figure out whats the problem

It really does sound like some headings are not mapping.
What are the html tags of the topics that are not converting?
What styles are they in Word before you change things there?

3-5.htm, 3-7.htm, 3-8.htm, 3-9.htm, 3-10.htm, 3-11.htm
Those are the topics that arn't converting. But if i don't include 3-5.htm in the content of the printed document everything comes in perfect. The styles the come out as are just normal.

Those are filenames, not heading tags.
Open 3-5 in Design Editor and select the heading. Switch to HTML view and you should see the heading highlighted.
Copy and paste that into a reply.

Whats wierd is if i move the book down to the bottom of the chapter, instead in the middle in order, everything works perf
ectly.
<h1>3-5<span style="font: 7.0pt 'Times New Roman';">             </span>PROJECT
DETAILS<u>                                                                                                                        </u></h1>
<h1>3-6<span style="font: 7.0pt 'Times New Roman';">             </span>HOMES<u>                                                                                                                        </u></h1>
<h1>3-7<span style="font: 7.0pt 'Times New Roman';">             </span>COSTS<u>                                                                                                                        </u></h1>
<h1>3-8<span style="font: 7.0pt 'Times New Roman';">             </span>ATTACHMENTS<u>                                                                                                                        </u></h1>
<h1>3-9<span style="font: 7.0pt 'Times New Roman';">             </span>JOURNAL<u>                                                                                                                        </u></h1>
<h1>3-10<span style="font: 7.0pt 'Times New Roman';">             </span>PROJECT
GRID<u>                                                                                                                        </u></h1>
<h1>3-11<span style="font: 7.0pt 'Times New Roman';">             </span>REVIEW<u>                                                                                                                        </u></h1>
Those are the heading tags for each topic that doesn't show up. Under the last one though, the topics after the first topic show up on the table of contents. Also all the extra spaces is for an underline that was on the original word document that is wanted to stay with the heading.

I don't know if a coincidence or not but when i am in the Print document Content window the chapter causing the problems is highlighted blue, from my understanding means its ben added. However i dont have anything added to the chapter layout side yet.

Weird but as nothing is on the right, how do you get anything to generate.
Have you tried creating a new Print Layout, not a copy?

I mean before i generate anything i would move all to the right, i am just wondering if the fact the
bad chapter being highlighted blue before being added might tell of the problem. I have tried generating new layouts too and they do the same thing.

Does clearing the Show All Topics check box change things?
It is looking like either that HTML is the cause or you have hit this issue where a book only prints if it is moved. Sorry but I don't have an answer to that.

So i have fixed my problem. It was conflicting Styles. I developed one style sheet and changed EVERY topic in my project.Turnes out it wasn't just the one rogue topic and book that was causing the problem. If i moved other books around it would do the same thing. I was thinking small but i had to think big picture. I guess that happens when you take a project on that someone else made and handed down to fix.
