Renaming .chm files

Hello,

I have to deliver two help projects. I am almost finished with each, and the release date nears. One has a long .chm name and the other has an abbreviated .chm name. My boss asked if I could rename one of these so the naming convention matches. I don't need to change my xpj names - just the compiled .chm.

What is the best way to do this? It seems like I could just do it in Windows Explorer, but I have a fear that RoboHelp will not like that and burp somewhere along the way. Is this setting in the project? Any advice would be appreicated.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi Kevin

Renaming in Windows Explorer should be fine. If you want to ensure RoboHelp creates it using that name, edit the properties of the Single Source Layout and look in the first field of the ensuing dialog.

Rick,

Thanks very much. I was remiss, and didn't mention changing the chm name in the Output Folder and File Name field on the HTML Help Options form when you generate help. I assume this is another way to rename it?

Thanks again.

Hi Kevin

Unless I'm mistaken, you and I are both referring to the same area. Unless, of course, you are being all wacky and creating .CHM output from RoboHelp for Word!
