RH5 will not generate PDFs

New Here ,
Jul 31, 2007 Jul 31, 2007
I think my installation of RoboHelp X5 was botched from the beginning. The "Generate PDF" check box has never been available or enabled.

I don't remember installing it from the CD, but when I tried to install it, I was told it was already installed. Yet, it remains dimmed.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

FWIW, have you uninstalled, rebooted and then reinstalled RH?

Do you have any PDF programs already installed?

What OS you have?

No, I haven't. I was not aware that uninstalling, rebooting, and reinstalling was recommended. My fault if this is commonly known. I guess I could do it. My project files do not live where the program files are. Playing Devil's Advocate, suppose they did. Would that make a difference?

Yes, I have Adobe Acrobat 8.1. Would I have dump it, as in uninstall it?

I am running Windows XP Pro.

I wouldn't think the Adobe Acrobat is the problem.
Using the "botched from the beginning" statement, I presumed some corrupt installation. That's the "reinstall reboot" suggestion. Of course you backup as necessary, and ensure your PC is "healthy" ( no malware, defragged, etc.)

See Peter Grainge's site on more specifics on installing RH:

I can't imagine how file location could cause this issue...

I think your "corrupt installation" phrasing is correct.
My pc is as healthy as possible. I scan and defrag weekly.
I am familiar with Peter Grainge's site. I have read that page. I will be sure to re-read it and have it open when I am performing your suggestion.
Thank you.
