RH7 Message: Default CHM Viewer

The full message I receive when trying to compile to HTML Help: "Unable to find default viewer for CHM file on your system. Please reinstall RoboHelp again [sic]."
Although I dutifully ran the repair install, it didn't help. What am I doing wrong?

Rick will be tucked up in bed right now. You can also associate the file through Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder Options | File Types. If CHM is not there, add it.

Hi again

In that case, you probably need to download and install the Microsoft HTML Help Workshop (HHW). You may download it by visiting the following link:

Click here to visit the Microsoft page

When you install the HHW, you will probably see a message that says something about a newer version already being installed. Just acknowledge the message. There should be no issues.

Hi LijeS

Sounds like you need to re-associate the .CHM file extension with the HTML Help viewer. Try right-clicking the .CHM file in Windows Explorer, pointing at "Open With" and choosing the "Choose Program..." option.

You will then want to locate the HH.EXE file. On my PC it is found in the Windows folder.

Give that a go and see how you fare. Hopefully things will be well!

Cheers... Rick

Hi Rick. The problem is, I don't have a CHM file, because RH won't let me compile. I was surprised to get a message about the viewer before there was even a file, but there you go.
