hello,
I have been facing this problem for quite a while now.Whenever i try to create/edit/delete a topic i get the following error message:"Robohelp received word error 24.If you continue to get this error please contact adobe technical support".I am using a trial version of robohelp along with office 2007 and winxpsp2...
Any suggestions as to what could be causing this problem? I have reinstalled both office and robohelp twice already doesnt seem to help...

The underlying .dot files should only be a problem if you have replaced the version supplied with a particular version of RH with one from an earlier version.

Wouldn't it be nice if one the previous posters came back with the solution? I cannot believe they have not fixed it.

Take a look at Using RH7 on my site. There is a link to an article on RH's site dealing with installation problems.

Assuming you do find the answer, please post back.

Well, I spend lots of time with adobe support, all frendly people but no idea for a solution. For me I have closed this case. I suppose the underlaying word .dot files can be the source of the problems. Maybe this files have to be regenerated or imported or whatever into office 2007 in some way. I expect adobe should tell me this....

I gave back the product and I'm evaluating now a new help system : Help scribble, Doc and Manual.... These products are even cheaper in the full version as I paid for the adobe update....and they work and are independent of microsoft word !!!!

So it would appear that you feel RoboHelp only works with Microsoft Word. This sounds like you were only trying the RoboHelp for Word product and may have totally ignored the RoboHelp HTML product. Most folks any more totally do the opposite. Ignore RoboHelp for Word and use RoboHelp HTML, as all the modern outputs are HTML based anyway. You talk about the other products being less expensive, but with RoboHelp you are actually acquiring a few different products. It would be interesting if you were to report back to this post after you go try the other tools and tell us if they also provide two different authoring environments and the other tools too.

* RoboHelp for Word
* RoboHelp HTML
* RoboSource Control
* RoboScreen Capture
* Graphics Resizer
* PDF creation utility
* Smart Publishing Wizard

The bottom line here is that you seemed impressed that the other products mentioned didn't use Word. Of course you are free to do what you want, but in order to give RoboHelp a fair shot, you should at least give the RoboHelp HTML flavor a try before concluding it doesn't do what you want.

Cheers... Rick

I have some older robo help projects still alive, originally created with RoboHelp 9.1 from eHelp Corporation. And my master criteria was to import these projects into the current robo help version (7). Useing word or not is not the point, since I have installed office 2007 anyway. But if I always receive word error 24 on every action about topics in my projects, so this Update is useless for me. Even creating new project did not work.
I asked support, I posted here the problem etc. and adobe was not able to give a solution for an update that costs me 1000$. Thats the fact.
And if I compare prices, don't make Bundles. I was just interested about robo help and asked for the update price for my old version. I did not aksed for source control and other products......

Best wishes, Markus

I doubt it is a virus but it could well be Norton interfering with the installation or running of RH.

Try uninstalling and then disabling Norton before you install RH again.

Run RH without Norton to prove it all works until Norton is enabled.

I just upgraded to robohelp 7 and have this error as well (office 2007). I check all things previously posted, but no success. I even tried to convert my project documents to the new office 2007 format (.docx) which does not help either.

Let me know if uninstall, deactivate virus software and reinstall has solved the problem.

I also reported this as a bug to the support center, but no answer yet. I also applied the newest bugfix, no success. I really looking for a solution. Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the forum.

Not an error I have seen before.

Was RH installed after Office? That is important.

What is the macro security level in Word? Try reducing it.

Is the project on your local drive?

Do you get this with all projects including new ones?

Robohelp was installed only after office both times.

I have even tried "Enable all macros" setting in Word,doesnt help..

Yes the project is on the local hard drive

Yes i get it with new projects as well

Is it a virus by any chance..?i have run a thorough scan once already using Symantec antivirus..nothing came up..
I also did go through your site...really helpful but unfortunately couldnt find a solution to my problem there..
and hey thanks for all the help!
