Question

RH7 TOC losing track of topics

Initially it was only top level files in the TOC so I rebooted the PC and lost all of them. I cleared my Recycle Bin, deleted the HHC file and then reopened the project. The files appeared in the Project Manager pane (no TOC). I closed the project, restored the HHC file from the Recycle Bin, opened the project and everything appeared to have been fixed (curiously, the User Variable had reverted to an older number). Today I have opened the project and RH 7 has lost track of ALL of the topics again!

Incidentally, this problem only started after installing the latest Office 2007 update.

Steve

This is not the same problem as you are talking about the TOC whereas the RH8 problem is about the Project Manager. Also the cause of that cannot apply to RH7. I have therefore created a separate thread and slightly amended your post. The file concerned is the HHC, not the HCC.

I am not sure what is causing this so try creating a new TOC selecting the old TOC to copy from. I am hoping that will rewrite the TOC without whatever error is causing this.

Has anyone else reading this experienced the same?

Hi Peter

Thanks for responding. Not sure whether it is the same problem but it does sound similar. The files are no longer visible in the RH Project Manager pane and the TOC is populated with red cross icons.

OK. I thought it was losing track in the TOC only. It still cannot be the same cause though, just technically impossible as I understand it.

Same solution though. Sorry. Please confirm it does work.
