RoboHelp 2022 Error - Unable to edit layouts

I am shown an error to restart RoboHelp when I try to:
  • Insert images to apply as Layout backgrounds, or any layout changes
  • Change topic folder names from the RoboHelp application. (This isn't a problem as I was able to go to the folder and make changes there)

I tried the below and they did not resolve the issue:
  • Restarting Robohelp from Help menu (as the error message said).
  • Restarting VDI.
  • Deleting the old layout and making a new one.
  • Creating a new project and editing the layout there.

That is what I meant. I'm simply not sure that set up is supported so I have reached out to an Adobe contact. It might not be that so perhaps contact Adobe Support yourself.

See https://helpx.adobe.com/contact/enterprise-support.other.html#robohelp for your Adobe Support options. The email link tcssup@adobe.com is recommended as it reaches a team dedicated to Technical Communication Suite products including RoboHelp.

I am not sure that this is an environment in which RoboHelp is supported. I have asked an Adobe contact and will post back when I hear from them.

I have unmarked this as a correct answer as it does not solve your issue. That will be when we know one way or the other.

BTW. If you wish, you can change the assigned username to something more friendly in your profile.

By environment do you mean the VDI (Virtual Desktop Interface)? I have to use the VDI to access client-provided software like RoboHelp.

Thanks for having a look Mr. Grainge.

Update: Initially I thought it sounded a little different to other remote installations but I have just learned that this setup should work OK. Also that Support are in touch with @SrikarGanti to resolve this.

Please update with what the issue was when it has been fixed.

I got it to work last night. The solution did not require editing CSS. Dealing with the mobile skin in the RH editor is not intutive and the https://helpx.adobe.com/robohelp/using/frameless-skin-editor.html documentation skirts mobile editing.

The key was to delete the About and Feedback header links in the Layout tab.

Add an icon to the remaining header link Favorites by swapping the menu.svg icon out in the project folder with your icon of choice.

Remove the header links "Favorites" title and edit the tooltip to reflect your intentent in the Layout tab. In my case the tooltip displays "Home" becusue my users got back to the web page that launched the Studio help file.

Set the Mobile Top Section "Logo" Layout "Display" property to none.

Move the Mobile Header Links "menu" to the left side of the screen where the "Logo" icon was and resize the control to suit your needs.

Swapping out the Desktop "Home Page" logo with a custom header link icon that routes users back to my web site "Home" was a piece of cake as stated in the original post.

Thanks for all the help...it got my brain ticking.
