Question

Robohelp 8 crashing after daylight savings time change?

My project was working just fine on Friday. We changed the clocks over the weekend for daylight savings time and today when I open my project, it crashes every time. I tried deleting the CPD file and re-opening it and when I did, it didn't crash but a lot of my topics were missing. That wasn't acceptable, so I looked through the forum for some ideas and some one mentioned the correlation between crashes and the daylight savings time change. So, I changed the date on my computer to before DST and voila, my project no longer crashes. This is a workaround in a pinch but is there a way to permanently fix this? I can't keep changing the clock every time I want to use RoboHelp.

A suggestion has been made to me that maybe the issue is your PC is now out of sync with your network. Did the network not get reset?

Okay, I had my IT person help me to ensure that the PC is in sync with the network. Robohelp still crashes using today's date.

I purchased an upgrade to RoboHelp9 so hopefully that will eliminate the problem. I would still like to know how to fix this in case it happens again in the fall when we change the clocks again and while I wait for the upgrade software.

I was replying to j*davis who said that following undocking and redocking all was well. It may have fixed the problem permanently, it may not, hence my reply.

Jerky cursor behaviour can be a sign the project CPD had got too big and needs to be deleted. If you don't have the 802 patch applied, download it before working on any more projects.

Oh, I see! Where can I find the 802 patch?
