Question

Robohelp Air Export

When i generate a Robohelp export of Adobe Air + Web Help files the program gets stuck in a loop when generating the export folders and creates a folder one after another in the folder it has just created, hanging the program but also causing windows to play up because you cannot remove folders easily after its created 200 odd folders.

Anyone know the cause of this problem, how to bypass it? PS this is the trial version, so i dont know if there are any such problems in the full release or if there is a patch yet.

This conversation seems to be going in a loop, very much like my folders. ;)

Adobe direct each program to its own folder within the "Adobe" folder. You were directing your outputs to the same folder, different thing.

Ah ok, will post it as a bug then, cheers.

Depends on what the programs are :D there are many programs out there in the same folder, many from Adobe themselves ;)

Or "Would you install two programs to the same folder? So don't do this."

    :-)

BTW. That link is for bugs as well as feature requests. Whilst I have reported it, the more people who report the issue, the more chance of a fix.

You are generating two different outputs to the same folder. I don't follow why you would want to do that. If you were generating WebHelp, FlashHelp and Microsoft HTML help, you wouldn't generate those to the same folder.

Maybe a warning dialog could be introduced. If you feel it should, follow this link.

I appreciate why you might not based on how Robohelp compiles - having a think of it in the light of day, regardless of all that it shouldnt happen. :) Its not really a wish list request, its a bug (I wish it wouldnt create 300 folders of course but it shouldnt and thats a different matter). All major software requires entry error trapping, if its something that the user shouldnt do (which it must be because creating 300 folders and breaking windows is not something anyone wants) then the product should prevent it to stop users making the same mistake.

Though it could be funny having a dialogue box "Press OK if you want to mess with your Windows folder structure". ;)

The problem seems to be when selecting the output location.

If you use the output location on the general settings tab of Export - Adobe Air, and set both the AIR file and the Start page to be the same location then the bug happens and generates many levels of folders/files.

So the workaround is not to place them both in the same location... does look like a very bad bug though :(
