RoboHelp HTML Version 8: Index entries in .chm do not match entries in Index pane?

I opened an RH X5.1 project in RH 8 and generated it. I noticed that the index entries in the .chm file are not correct; e.g., main entries appear scattered under secondary key words, etc. The index entries appear correctly in the Index pane (pod) within RH 8.

Anyone else run into this problem and know how to resolve it?

Can anyone suggest how to troubleshoot this problem? This Help project has a few hundred topics and compiled perfectly in RH X5.1. It seems strange that the entries in the Index pane within RoboHelp HTML 8 look fine yet they are not in the right order in the .chm.

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
