RoboHelp7 and Word 2007 - bitmaps

New Here ,
Mar 13, 2008 Mar 13, 2008
I recently upgraded from RoboHelp X5 to X7, along with Word 2000 to Word 2007. Have seen some problems with links disappearing, but nothing definte. But now see problem on Help Images of bitmap files. When open and try to save, RoboHelp X7 msg states unsupported format. If save anyway, cannot reopen - "improperly formatted control or RoboHelp cannot determine its properties." Are there compatibility issues? What am I missing?

I am seeing the same problem in an upgrade from RH 6 to RH8 and from Word 2003 to Word 2007.  In the Word file I have:

   {bmc Icons 1.bmp}

I right click on it and select properties from the popup menu.  RH responds with "The  current selection is an improperly formatted control or RoboHelp cannot determine its properties".

Strangly when HTML is compiled, the graphic is properly placed in the Help content.

The error occurs with old content as well as with newly created images.

Sorry to be so late to answer, but thought I'd put my two cents in just in case...

I am assuming you are only dealing with bmp files...

I recall that some graphic editor applications were not fully compatible with the bmp format RH for Word looks for.

Try using Paint (look under Accessories). Run Paint, open the file and save it as a bmp - 256 colors.

Use that bmp instead.

All bmps take on the full size they were at when they were saved. If you insert the bmp directly into your doc and resize it, when it is compiled it ignores your resizing effort...
