Hi there

Can you offer us a clue as to where you are seeing the term "label"?

Cheers... Rick

We're seeing those terms under the History View section:

Could you please help us explain what's the difference between the two terms?

Also we have a 3 authors working on 1 project.  Is there a way where I could view the recent changes what the other authors are making to the project?

Thank you!

According to the RoboSource Control help file:

Tagging files
Tagging files is similar to checking out files. Tagging files makes it easy to make local edits, without going through the checkout process. Tagging also makes it possible to work offline.

Labeling files
Labeling is the act of marking a particular version of a file or folder (e.g., to correspond to a particular customer release). You can view the labels for files and folders using the History dialog. The History dialog allows you to delete labels, edit labeled file versions, or create labels from retrospective data.

Others will have to deal with the other questions you have. RoboSource Control is not my forte. I tend to avoid it when I can because there seem to be more issues than available answers when problems emerge.

Cheers... Rick

Hi,

I also do not understand the details of what tagging is. That its purpose is to avoid the checkout process is a red flag to me.  For multiple author projects, our processes require that authors do not use tagging.

Labeling is a much simpler concept. Applying a recursive label to a RoboHelp project in version control is like creating a timestamp to all the files in the project. For example, before you to test your help contents, you could apply a label such as SYS_4-22-2010. Then, if things got screwed up in the future, you could GET or rollback to that point in time. We apply labels to all projects for specific milestones in our development process, such as system test, user acceptance testing, and deployment to production systems.
