Trying to Connect To SharePoint

Community Beginner ,
Apr 03, 2025 Apr 03, 2025

I am new to RoboHelp and am trying to create a Connection Profile to SharePoint.  When I enter my SharePoint credentials I get the message attached saying I need to get Admin permissions.  I sent the information to my IT admin, but he is having problems figuring out how to give me permissions. He is asking me for the web address/URL of the screen where I am getting this message, however, RoboHelp is hiding the web address so I can't get to it.  Does anyone know what it is or have a work around I can tell him?

Thanks.

Are you trying to publish output to SP or hook it up for version control?

As a quick fix, you can generate the output locally & then copy it all to the SP location (outside of RH). The Publish function just combines the actions of generating the output & copying it to the location you specify.

Those of us who mostly support the forum are not Sharepoint users so I suggest for this one you need to go to Adobe Support. See https://helpx.adobe.com/contact/enterprise-support.other.html#robohelp for your Adobe Support options. The email link tcssup@adobe.com is recommended as it reaches a team dedicated to Technical Communication Suite products including RoboHelp.

Looking at the image you  posted, it is simply asking you to sign in to a Microsoft account in the normal way.

When you have resolved this with Support, it would be very helpful if you would come back here and post the answer. Sorry I can't help you.

Looking at this some more, isn't the URL simply where you want to publish the help. Your Sharepoint IT will set that.

Thanks for your help everyone! I emailed support.  The path I needed turned out to be in a log file found here:  C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\RHTMP.

This is the URL in case anyone else runs into this issue:  https://login.microsoftonline.com/common/oauth2/v2.0/authorize??response_type=code&redirect_uri=http...

Once I T gave security permissions to this, I was able to authenticate and connect to SharePoint. I was then able to select the SharePoint connection in my Publish Profile to be able to publish to SharePoint.  Now my next step is getting IT to allow custom scripts.  One step at a time I guess LOL.

"custom scripts" - like JavaScript in the output?

Yes - he followed the instructions in the help topic but told me it takes 24 hours for Sharepoint to show it or something.   Hopefully it works.  So far I've struck out all three ways I've tried to publish RoboHelp (I'm doing a trial and am hoping to buy).
1) I tried to publish PDF to one drive folder. The Publish Log is blank (no errors) but it doesn't actually move the files anywhere.  I've also tried just doing the file one to my desktop and it doesn't do anything

2) I am also trying to publish to Confluence instead. I got a little further there but it tells me it can't find the space even though when I paste the URL it goes there.  I tried different variations thing maybe it wanted just the name or something like that (the instructions don't say) but so far nothing. I put in a support ticket for that one:)

Everything else I love and is a lot more intuitive than Flare but publishing has been a struggle bus.

For creating PDF output, try following Peter's site - https://www.grainge.org/RoboHelp_Tour/rh2022/outputs/outputs_pdf.htm
For Confluence, not a lot of people here deal with it, but I think you can test by generating output locally & then copy it to the space. It's not the same output type as SharePoint.

Ask your IT admin to grant you “Full Control” or at least “Contribute” permission on the SharePoint Document Library you’re trying to connect to.

Workaround:
Since RoboHelp hides the URL, use tools like Fiddler or your browser’s network monitor to capture the request. This will help your admin identify the exact endpoint that’s being blocked.

Also, ensure the library has “Allow management of content types” enabled.

Alternative Tip:
If the connection issues persist, consider using the Kernel Migration for SharePoint tool. It simplifies SharePoint access, authentication, and content publishing—ideal for those working with limited SharePoint permissions or facing RoboHelp limitations.
