WebHelp vs MSHTMLhelp

Luckily, my files look good in WebHelp; and they compiled into Microsoft HTML help (*.chm) but
--didn't have the "skin"
--all topics were alphabetical (so my "appendix" comes before "chapter").

This should be pretty simple, yes?

    Hi Darryl

Yep, WebHelp and compiled .CHM files are sorta like comparing a chimpanzee to a gorilla. Both are apes, but are entirely different apes!

As you have seen, skins don't apply in the world of the .CHM. I'm guessing here that you are referring to the alphabetical topics as meaning the TOC presents them in that order? If so, you have total control over that and it doesn't have to be that way at all. Sure if you simply automatically generated a TOC they would be, but you are free to move things around as you see fit.

    Hopefully this helps... Rick

Oh, yeah..., I had to point to the correct TOC file (I didn't use the default). After compiling to CHM, the table of contents is A-OK.
