300dpi or 72dpi for contributing illustrations to Adobe Stock?

Hi everyone,

wondering if it's better to submit illustrations in 300dpi or 72dpi. I'm aware that 300dpi is better for print and 72dpi better for the web, however, it's obviously not possible to know for sure how the client is going to use that picture. Hence, it would be helpful to know what the recommended dpi is.

Would appreciate any guidance on this.

Thank you!

It is absolutely and completely irrelevant. The ppi (also called dpi) is not checked, or used, in any way by Stock and Stock Customers are expected to ignore it. 300 ppi is not "better for print" and 72 ppi is not "better for web". These are myths on the internet, put about by people who don't understand anything.

Only one thing matters in Stock (and in general): the number of pixels. The suitability for print can easily be worked out by dividing the proposed size by the number of pixels, considering the print technology and viewing distance.

Vector graphics are math-based, not pixel based.  Therefore, vector graphic illustrations, icons, text, inforgraphics, drawings, etc.. can be rescaled to any size (large or small) without any loss in quality (aka pixelation).  Resolution is therefore irrelevant.  Refer to Vector Graphic Submission Requirements below:

Raster images are pixel-based and best used for photography:

Generative AI is pixel based.  Use high resolution diffusions and fix all AI imperfections before you submit.

Whatever you set your ppi value, it's really of no practical use. Here are the important parameters: https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/help/photography-illustrations.html

You're welcome. This said, I set my value to 300 for the reason that InDesign creates previews based on this value.
