Hi Everyone,
This morning Pacific Daylight Time, we emailed our contributors the following message.
“We wanted you to be the first to know that today Adobe introduced Adobe Firefly, a new family of creative generative AI models. Firefly’s initial focus on images and test effects is now available in beta at firefly.adobe.com. The first model of Firefly is trained on Adobe Stock images, openly licensed content, and public domain content, where copyright has expired and is designed to generate images safe for commercial use. During the beta phase, the Firefly-generated assets cannot be used for commercial purposes.
We are investing in generative AI to help creators transform the way they imagine and explore possibilities. We are committed to developing generative AI responsibly, with creators at the center. Through efforts like the Content Authenticity Initiative, we’re standing up for accountability, responsibility, and transparency in generative AI. We are developing a compensation model for Stock contributors, and we will share the details of this model when Firefly exits beta.”

You can't submit Firefly images to Adobe Stock yet, while Firefly is in beta. The approval may take a couple of hours.
Hi,
Here are some answers from the FAQ. You can find the FAQ at the Discord or at https://firefly.adobe.com/faq
How do I get access to Adobe Firefly?
Visit https://firefly.adobe.com/ to apply for Beta access. We're approving applications ASAP and you'll receive a confirmation email once you've been added. If you submit the form, you're in the queue to receive beta access, but it will take time before you're approved.

Sounds very cool. How long do you think will the "Request Access" Process take, and will the Licensing in Adobe Stock be different to "normal" photos?

Interesting stuff! The way you trained your model and how it will be integrated in the Adobe universe will be extremely competitive in the current market. Also cooperations with big names like Nvidia and Azure. If I was midjourney I'd have a bad night.
Speaking of: What will happen to the generative ai stuff that is currently on adobe stock? Will it remain? And will it be possible to upload images created with software other than Firefly?

Hi Andref,
Everything remains the same as far as existing and ongoing generative AI content created with other software. Our upload guidelines remain in place, and properly identified generative AI submissions that are online will remain.
Thank you,
Mat Hayward

It's possible to upload artwork created with Adobe competitor's software, so why should this change?

Hi, this is very exciting! This is the first time I get in a forum not looking for a solution but out of pure curiosity. I think many of us were expecting Adobe's move into AI, Every time there was an update in PS I immediately checked beta filters looking for a tool like Firefly. Really nice!

I just found out about this and if my images are in the traning data how do I get them removed? I never agreed to have my name associated with anyone esles work and that's literally the primary issue artists have had is that their name is getting associated with work that isn't there. I'd rather not be a contributor anymore than get credited and/or associated even partly for someone elses work. I've been on hold waiting for an agent for over an hour to discuss this. I'm autistic and adhd, I prefer not to have the attention since to much attention causes me anxiety and gives me panic attacks. If it's not possible to opt out of receiving credit for work I didn't do and shouldn't have to worry about being associated with can I just get my images removed from the training and opt out of all future trainings. I have around 2 terabytes of images I'm trying to find a home for but, not if it means getting credited on someone elses work if I do. I'd rather just opt out of the training all together if I can't opt out of getting credit. This is the exact opposite of what artists like Greg Rutowskis was asking for, it's the exact opposite of what I want. I just don't want to particpate in this if I can't opt out of getting credited on someone elses work. My styles learned and they aren't my work, only my work is my work.

Like I will sue you if my name gets associated with work that isn't done by me. I wanted to discuss this with an agent but after having one rep disconnect me, two transfer me, and then the last leaving me waiting for over an hour I'll just post it here and hopefuly someone reaches back out to me. If you credit me on anyone elses work that I had no part in making I will sue. Since I couldn't discuss this with anyone, if you associate my name with some random users work I will sue.

You misunderstand what generative AI does. Your work won't get credited, indeed, the user of generative AI does not know all the assets that got used during the training phase.

I don't know how their artist credit system works fully, but I am very familiar with how generative AI works, how to train and fine tune models, how to build the UI, and etc. Facebook post went over how adobe planned on crediting and paying artists when their work got used and that caused me to completely opt out of adobe because that isn't right. I don't want to be a contributor or a customer anymore if that's how they are going about it. I'm good though, all subs are cancelled with adobe. Long as my name isn't give credit for work someone else did I'm good, if I get credited on anyone elses work in any way shape or form I will sue. Thats just the bottom line.

Beta applications are being approved on a rolling basis and you'll receive a confirmation email once you've been granted access. At this time we do not have an accurate estimate for when access will be granted. Thank you for your patience!
Will I receive a confirmation email after I request access?
Yes! If you successfully submit your access request, it may take time for the confirmation email to arrive. You'll receive an additional email when access has been granted.
Hope that helps.

Great! However a bit disappointing so far for me, because I registered two times now for an 'early access' to FireFly, but still haven't heard anything from Adobe... ;-/

You will need to wait your turn. There is a considerable waiting time. And as resources are limited, it may well be, that all the slots are taken. If your access gets granted, the team will notify you. There is no need to reapply.

A number of people have reported that they haven't been granted access to Adobe Firely as a Beta Tester; perhaps Adobe has already signed up the number of Beta testers that they were hoping to acquire and the don't need any more.
