Hello, if I have an AI-generated image that resembles a real photograph, as if it were taken with a camera, should I categorize it as an illustration or as a photo? What's the best approach for it to be accepted? I also have a few already uploaded under review that are categorized as photographs even though they're AI-generated. Should I delete them? How should I proceed? I have seen old pictures generated with AI categorized under the photos category.
If it does in fact appear to be an actual photograph taken with a camera, label it as a photograph. But I avoid using the word photograph in the title or the keywords, since it's not. The Photos/Illustrations label, I believe, is of more use to the moderators and how assets are queued up than it has to do with searches. At least that's my guess.
That said, there was a recent thread along these lines asking, what if it's difficult to determine if it's a photograph or an illustration? To which I replied, when in doubt, select Illustration.

I disagree with @daniellei4510. Adobe has clearly stated that AI-generated must be marked as "AI-generated". Not as a photograph. If you mark as a photograph when it or part of it is "AI-generated" then the chances are high that your account will be suspended or permanently closed. Additionaly, the label is also used in a subcategory to filter searches. Photos and Illustrations can be filtered seperately. Under Illustrations, drawn and AI-generated images are displayed. AI-generated are flagged in the output.

Ralph, an AI image can be submitted under file type "photos", but still needs to be declared as Generative AI. See above the quote that I posted from the help page.

It needs to be marked as generative AI, but it can be submitted as a photograph if it looks like a photograph. If it looks like an illustration or if in doubt, submit as an illustration. I doubt that today, you will get suspend ended for erring once in the category. You are risking a refusal. That's not really fatal, but you will need to resubmit and get again at the end of the queue.

You may risk a refusal. It's rare, but it may happen.

Just a quick clarification. I stated that labeling an image has less affect on searches but that's not entirely true, since buyers can select whether they want Illustrations only, Photos only, etc. So this is another reason why you need to be as forthright as possible when choosing one or the other. At small preview sizes, AI images can look quite photorealistic but become more recognizable as illustrations or obvious AI once purchased and viewed at full size.
