Important generative AI reminders

We want to remind you that any generative AI assets submitted to Adobe Stock must adhere to the Generative AI Guidelines. Violations to these guidelines lead to content rejections or account termination.

Very important:

  • Do not submit any assets created with prompts in the style of other artists or referring to famous people or brands.
  • Content created by prompts that refer to artists, styles, or works that no longer have copyright protection may be acceptable so long as you verify that no other rights apply to the prompt (e.g., publicity rights, cultural heritage rights, etc.).  If you are unsure if you have the necessary rights, do not submit content made using that prompt.
  • All generative AI images should be identified by checking the box “Created using generative AI tools”.
  • Only check the box “People and Property are fictional” if the asset includes people or property. For example, if you generated a landscape or food DO NOT check this box.
  • If you used a real person or property to generate your AI image, you need to submit a model release or property release with your image.

Thank you,

Mat Hayward

To repeat:

  • Only check the box “People and Property are fictional” if the asset includes people or property. For example, if you generated a landscape or food DO NOT check this box."

In this context "property" means buildings, cars, boats - the type of property that would require property releases if they were real. It isn't really necessary to check that box for furnishings, but I don't think it will earn the image a rejection.

Locking this now. There is no need to clog this thread with validation issues. When you want to refer to this thread, you are welcome to add a link.

I have submitted content (some backgrounds) that is NOT made with AI and it has been rejected, reason: Undeclared generative AI content.
I don't know how to fix this, or how to prevent it ?

Thank you!

Sadly you can't. Adobe probably has unprecedented onslought of AI generated images and do not have processes how to cope with that. So any time any of moderators under extreme load misclicks or misinterprets.

In your case just move on, i reckon you account was not blocked. My account got blocked with over 15000 approved assets on it month and a half ago. Since then i have not received any status update. Not to mention money i had in my account that i have not withdrawn.

So consider yourself lucky for now.

Yes, i could suspect sales droping but we as creators will adapt, just need to learn and innovate.

The most painful part is not that it was blocked itself however, but the attitude from Adobe Stock support team where creators dedicating so much time to content creation get cancelled without any single warning or any kind of explanation. Just pure ignoring silence. Especially after all these years of being a loyal customer of their usually amazing products.

That is really unpleasant even though i understand the immence load they must encounter now. A huge company such as Adobe should have a contingency plan for this as it was easily foreseeable.

As for mistakes we made, ofc, we are just humans, we made, make and will make mistakes always. But there is clear distinction where user behavior is intentionally exploitative and where it's simple overlook or lack of attention to rapidly changing rules Adobe is imposing.

I love youtube rules, where you get several strikes and time to improve before you account hats terminated. Wish Adobe can take a good example. Would really hate to part with this company on such terms as it is now.

I completely agree with everything you say, I subscribe to each of the
points you describe since I am in the same situation and affected by all of
them, to which I should also add...Not only does Adobe block our accounts
without prior notice or any communication about it... But they also take
away our access to the funds acquired from the sales of our images In our
accounts, removing access to those funds for sales that Adobe already
collected previously at the time, so the contributor should always have
access to the management section of the Money accumulated from your sales
because they are sales already made and if Adobe has already collected
them, it is not fair that, due to the uninformed blocking of the account,
it also confiscates the money from the contributor Accumulated in their
account for their work, because if Adobe already collected it at the time,
the contributor should continue asking to have access to those funds at all
times.

After a 3-week-long lockdown, I've noticed a significant decrease in sales, more than threefold. Is there hope that they will recover at least to the previous level?

Probably, but it will take time since your previously sold assets have moved down in the search algorithms that show Buyers recent sales.

Indeed. I was creating some illustrations and refering to Pixar style, even though characters were fictional and not used by Pixar itsels got myself suspended and waiting for two weeks now with no response. So certainly make sure not to refer to any IP in title, description, tags etc... 🙂

There are also phrases to avoid when creating AI prompts. For example, "award winning photo." This is practically an invitation to create an image or images almost identical to an actual award winning photo already in existence. While other words or descriptions in the prompt might randomize the results enough not to emulate an actual award winning photo, its still good practice not to be too precise or specific when creating photo realistic AI.

Hi together,
I have always checked both checkboxes, because the plates, the table, the office etc. are fictitious and do not belong to me. So really I do not know now from when it is property where I have to click that it does not belong to me? I hope the pictures are not all rejected now.

Buy all means reject an image if it's not completely within guidelines. It's bound to happen now and then -- especially when trying to produce image that might reflective of popular culture and ideas. But, blocking an account and seizing funds -- that seems pretty harsh. There needs to be accountability in the approval process as well as with contributors.

Hello,

I sent 1-2 months ago more than 300 AI image using the the checkbox "Created by using generative AI tools and they are still under review.  But I've also inserted, in each title, the phrase "Generative AI" and sometimes in the keywords too.

Today I've noticed recent changes in the guidelines and I read:

Don’t: Add 'generative AI' to titles and keywords. The checkbox "Created by using generative AI tools" classifies your image as a generative AI image.

So now I have to delete all 323 submitted images and do i have to send everything again by eliminating the phrase "generative AI"?

Thank you for your reply.

Hi Mat,

Thank you for posting these important reminders about generative AI guidelines. We've noticed recent changes in the guidelines, and we're doing our best to stay compliant.

We recently uploaded a batch of AI-generated images and checked the box for "People and Property are fictional." After reading your post, we want to make sure we've understood all the rules correctly.

On a related note, we reached out to you via email regarding an account validation issue, and we understand you may have been busy. If there's anything we've missed with the recent guideline updates, we're eager to correct it.

Could you please take a moment to look into our situation or direct us to the right channel? We value our long standing partnership with Adobe Stock and appreciate your support.

Best,

To the best of my knowledge Mat is not involved in account validation issues. You'll have to direct your questions to the contact us link that you see on your Dashboard and wait for Contributor Support to reply.

Hi Jill,

Thank you for the guidance. We've been proud contributors to Adobe Stock for over 10 years (since it was "fotolia"), and we truly value this partnership.

We actually used the "contact us" link on our Dashboard about three weeks ago and have been eagerly awaiting a reply from Contributor Support. The delay in resolving this issue is becoming a burden for our stock footage company, and we're keen to address it as soon as possible.

Could it be possible that we missed something or need to follow up in a different way? Any advice on how to expedite the resolution would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you once again for your help!

Best,
Yavor Yanakiev

Thanks! I wasn't sure about what boxes to check or not check with regard to "landscapes and food." I haven't submitted all that much of either, but hould I remove and resubmit accordingly?
