prompts copy of other artist

The guideline mentioned from the update on August 23rd addresses the copying of prompts used by other artists for generating AI images. If you write a prompt like "apple on the branch of a tree," which is a realistic description, and if many artists have already used this prompt and generated images based on it, it's not a direct violation of the guideline to use it as well. The intention is to avoid directly copying unique and creative prompts that individual artists have come up with.

However, if i use a more common prompt like "apple, banana, or tomato on a white background," it might not be a direct copy of another artist's prompt since it's a general and common concept? The guideline primarily aims to prevent the reuse of distinct and specific prompts that are creative and unique to a particular artist's work.

On August 23rd, there was an update. If I had copied the titles of files before August 23rd and those files were uploaded before 23 August , would there be any issues?

The copy rules were in place before. Adobe just did add some precision information to them.

I think you're referring to the guidelines in the pinned post in this forum which says:

  • Do not submit any assets created with prompts in the style of other artists or referring to famous people or brands.
  • Content created by prompts that refer to artists, styles, or works that no longer have copyright protection may be acceptable so long as you verify that no other rights apply to the prompt (e.g., publicity rights, cultural heritage rights, etc.).  If you are unsure if you have the necessary rights, do not submit content made using that prompt.

This means that you can't write a prompt that says, for instance, "in the style of Andy Warhol soup cans". Doing so would violate the IP rights of the famous artist Andy Warhol. It does not mean that you can't copy or try to simulate the AI prompts of other AI contributors.

"Engineer" is indeed quite an exaggeration. Sounds like they're trying to give themselves far more credit for their creations than is due !

@Jill_C,

I'm an engineer, so I could name myself “Prompt Engineer”. OK, I'm not doing AI, but if I would, I would need now new business cards… ‌😄‌

What is your question?

You are not allowed to copy prompts of other artists. You are allowed to invent your own prompts. “Apple on a tree” is not a prompt that is protected, however. If someone says using apple on a tree, you can use it too. However, you can't copy that very complex prompt that produces a very nice picture for your pictures.

There is nothing complicated here.
