questions for filling the tax form

I have a few questions regarding how to fill out the tax form:
1. Where can i find the list of the countries that have a tax treaty with the US?
2. I haven't filled out the tax form yet, although i have a few earnings from photos that are sold in my contributor account. I have not managed to finish filling out the tax form. My question is if i will loose those earnings i already have if i take too long to complete the form?

* I wish Adobe had chat agents to be able to help us fill the tax form or answer questions regarding it.

A list of countries with tax treaties is available here:

https://www.irs.gov/businesses/international-businesses/united-states-income-tax-treaties-a-to-z

I think the question of tax forms and how they vary within the many countries represented by Adobe Stock Contributors is far too complex a topic for customer service agents to respond to accurately. It is suggested that you contact a local tax expert if it isn't clear how to fill out the form. You won't lose any accrued earnings while waiting

Adobe cannot give tax advice.  That's not their job.  Everyone's tax status is different.

The form itself is not complicated.  It's a simple statement to determine your tax rate so you can get paid by Stock in a timely manner.

US Residents should submit Form W-9.

https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/iw9.pdf

Non-US Residents should complete form W-8 BEN.

Non-US Corporations should complete W8-BEN-E.

What exactly do you mean by "however I think that perhaps payouts will be deferred until you have submitted the form"?

You won't lose any earnings, but you can't request the payment. I addition, tax deduction will be at 30% at the moment of your sale, and that won't be refundable.

The effect of not having filled out and submitted the tax form makes you lose 30% minus the tax deduction that gets taken normally for your country.

BTW: tax treaties are published on

You can accrue earnings, but I don't think they'll issue you any payments until the tax form is submitted.

Here's what the Help page states on that topic:

https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/help/getting-paid.html

Once you’ve accrued more than US$25 in royalties on Adobe Stock, you can request a payout as long as the following criteria is met:

  • You've got a validated tax form on file in your account.

  • At least 45 days have passed since your first Adobe Stock sale. (You can make subsequent payment requests when you reach the US$25 threshold again).

  • You've got a valid PayPal, Payoneer, or Skrill account available to receive funds.

The effect of not having filled out and submitted the tax form makes you lose 30% minus the tax deduction that gets taken normally for your country.

BTW: tax treaties are published on the us government web pages and wherever your country publishes its laws and treaties. You will find all relevant information by reading that treaty, but it's not really required (for our activity). By filling out the required form, the most difficult part is understanding the English language, if you are not a native speaker. The form is straight forward, and all yo have to do is to select your country. Necessary withholding rates are applied automatically by Adobe.

The form itself is from the IRS, and is to be used for all types of revenues and situation. So there are a lot of fields that simply stay blank. The aim of this is, that you pay somewhere your taxes due. It's as important that you understand your local tax implications, like what to declare how in your country, than to fill in this form. That information need to be gathered locally.

Adobe has compiled a list of countries and withholding rates and the relevant section in the treaty for stock activity. https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/help/withholding-rates-country.html?cq_ck=1503513388328

If you need help with the taxes, you need to find a lawyer in your country specialized in this item. Adobe won't provide tax advice, beyond what is published as general information on their website.

You need to use the system as Adobe instituted it, and that works. It works for me and the many other foreign contributors. Follow the instructions.

In W-8BEN on PART II, paragraph 10, there are 4 fields to fill.
My country of residence is Greece, so for the for the first two fields i enter "0" and "0". I think im correct on that... BUT for the 3rd field (the long one), there is no help tag when hovering over it, so i have no clue what i have to place there!!!

How should I know? I'm from Luxembourg. I fill my country, and assume all is ok. I do not claim specifics.

I think, when you say "Greece" that you are fine. If you want to be sure, you need to ask a tax consultant.

Nothing. I kept them blank. I do not claim exceptions, as the treaty with the US is clear. There are none (for my country).

Motion pictures 30%, photos and others 0%. Please click the link. it's all there. You can lead the donkey to the water, but he has to drink himself.

But in all cases: you need to fill and submit the tax form with Adobe.
