Hello! Why was my photo rejected even though it was my own work, not plagiarized or taken from someone else

This is issue has been plaguing new and veteran contributors alike for months. There are no guaranteed steps you can take to fix the issue, as the process seems extremely random, possibly based on keywords and titles. While there are indeed enough assets of certain types that one could argue are over-represented (abstracts, wallpapers, icons, etc.), unique assets also appear to be summarily and randomly rejected as similar content. It's a bit of "just deal with it" it situation, unfortunately.

Similar means that someone has something similar in the database. It does not mean that you copied someone's work.

So if I submit a picture of a white dog sitting, and you have a picture of a white dog sitting, neither of us has copied from the other, but the pictures may be similar.

But to be honest, we think that the algorithm that Adobe uses to detect this is ill configured, so there will be assets refused as similar that are, if you look at the database, unique enough to get included.

Read the rejection reason explanation more carefully:

During our review, we found that your submission closely resembles content already available on Adobe Stock. While some similarities are expected in a large collection, we refuse content that is too repetitive so customers can easily find distinct and relevant content.

To be accepted, submissions must be clearly differentiated. When reviewing content from the same series, our moderators look for noticeable differences including variations in composition, color, expression, or scenario. We encourage Contributors to be selective and share their best, most varied work.

"resembles content already available on Adobe Stock" means that your submissions are also compared to any assets submitted by anyone else.

Similar content means different things. There're too many shots already of one theme, work looks too similar to something already done and that's copyright infringement, and or we are sending too many shots of the same concept. All cases hurts us.

I definitely look at trends selling, but I don't spend any time looking for ideas in Adobe's library.

See it as an opportunity for all of us to challenge ourselves, be original and more disciplined when we shoot and submit.
