1) lacks sharp focus and the left side of the frame is overexposed 

2) also not in sharp focus and noise in the shadows. Looks like you're using window light. A reflector on the shadow side will even up the exposure.

3) similar lighting issues and you've cropped off the top of the cake

Hi All!!!
I took the photos following the guidelines and tips here, but I still got 2 photos rejected. Any other suggestions?

023 is underexposed (see the histogram:

), the plate and the paper may have IP problems. As for the light, avoid those dark firm shadows. Use indirect flashing and/or reflectors (like a simple white surface like a paper or styropor or a white sheet). For the flash, you can also use a diffuser.

 

019: is also underexposed. You should photoshop small imperfections like stains on the table:

Well, and my remarks on the IP are still valid.

 

And then there is @Nancy OShea's remark. Refusal could also be Commercial appeal. And even if they would be accepted, they would generate none to no sales.
