Using Adobe Stock API or CSV for Bulk Content Updates – Account Safety Inquiry

Merhaba,

There is no Adobe Contributor API. The only option is the posibility of using a CSV file to apply keywording and titles to uploaded assets that have not been submitted for review. Multiple assets can be uploaded using FTP. After an asset has been approved, updates are only possible one at a time and online.

Hi!

I moved your question to the Stock Contributors forum. First, the Contributor API is not available to the public, so there is no direct way you can use it. The only method you have for bulk updates is to use CSV:
https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/help/organize-with-csv-files.html

I have asked the Contributor team if there are any further guidelines, but this is our recommendation for now.

Thanks,

Christopher

To add to this: it is not possible to use this method to modify any aspect of an asset after having submitted the asset for moderation. It only bulk prepares the assets for submission into the moderation queue.

So as of OPs question to all of his talking points: no, it is not possible.

Many Contributors use the CSV file upload mechanism referred to above. I prefer a more "slow, but steady" approach to uploading, titling and keywording my content. I think the main concern which I've seen expressed here and in the Discord server is that you have to make sure to follow the instructions precisely, omitting none of the essential data and using correct punctuation. Otherwise the file upload will fail. It would probably be best to do a test run on a small sample initially, say, no more than 10 images.

There is use in using CSV files. It helps to keep your keywords safe in case of a refusal and resubmit. But all in all, I agree with your approach. If you submit daily more assets than you can check, you are abusing the system and you are prone to refusals. I doubt that the majority of the bulk uploaded and keyworded/titled assets this way are correctly following the Adobe guidance.

Most of the questions have been addressed by @Christopher at Adobe, but as you did ask specific questions, here are my answers to this:

1) as it is not possible to access the contributor portal via the API, that is not possible. I also fear that Adobe won't make an API available, as this would open the floodgates to circumvent moderation on the keywords and titles.

2) You can't do bulk updates and they would indeed violate Adobe's usage policies.

3) It is not possible to download existing content, including keywords and titles. It is not possible to change titles and keywords of submitted assets (accepted or in the moderation queue) after submission. If you find a way to do so, I'm sure that at the long your account would get banned.

4) The stock database does not allow bulk updates after submission, so the only way to do so is by manually change asset for asset. If you are trying to do that via an automation tool, simulating manual input, I'm sure that at a certain point, your account would get blocked. A change of the keywords and the titles after acceptance is done in a way to allow for minor corrections. It's not intended to tune or modify a huge collection of assets.

So if you want to ensure that your Adobe stock content is properly organized and optimized, you need to do that beforehand. You can title and keyword your assets via a CSV file and that method is described on the site's helpx pages. You can upload files via sftp, if you get the credentials shown (check the helpx files for more information). I think that Adobe is phasing out this possibility, but if it is offered to you, go ahead. Else you will need to upload your submissions via the standard user interface.

The information you provided is very valuable. Thank you for taking the time to respond. I found it wiser to manually enter every content I upload to the Adobe Library. This seems like a safer way. There are currently nearly 900 contents in the Adobe Library, but there are 15 thousand contents in a certain folder on my hard drive that are separated for stock, stabilized and prepared for sale - content numbers starting from 1 to 15,000, 80% of which are videos and very large content. Instead of using the Adobe API to strain the Adobe ecosystem, I think it would be a healthier way to get more information about the content, create keywords and reach the description of the content by using artificial intelligence models such as Google Vision AI, Open AI and Amazon Recognition, Google Video Intelligence. I will manually enter nearly 900 contents that I upload to Adobe. This is healthier. But I aim to scan the 15 thousand new contents that I will upload on my own computer with phyton code and content automation to artificial intelligence and reach the necessary data for all of them. I hope that this will provide correct SEO work - correct market usage by using the right keywords. By the way, if there are those who are curious about the content, I can share the phyton code and a printout of the chatgpt conversation for you.

Thanks again for the information you provided. I wish you a pleasant day.
