What is POSITION used for in Dashboard's Time Frame & DOWNLOADS information?

Dashboard always shows DOWNLOADS and EARNINGS, regardless of the selected Time Frame - i.e. Lifetime, This Week, This month, or This year.

However, today I noticed for the first time that an additional bit of information (category?) appears when Time Frame is set to either Lifetime or This week.

What information does POSITION provide?
