Hi guys what is the purpose of a CSV?

Is it basically a ledger to keep track of submissions?

Excuse my ignorance, if I do a CSV I don't have to fill in the metadata on the page when I submit an image.

The CSV file contains the metadata. You have to fill out the metadata there.

It's thought to prepare mass uploading of assets. You prepare the metadate for each image comfortably on your couch and can upload and submit tons of pictures in a few clicks.

Hi,

as pointed out the CSV Option is for those Photographers who uploading tons of Photos at Once like several hundred at a time. In that Case the workflow is also a bit different and that Meta Data like Filename, Description, Keywords, etc. will be put in via (Text) CSV File instead of putting it in manually for each Photo individually.

If you are only put in a few Photos at a time the workflow would be way to time intensive to prepare the Photos and CSV File. It would be totally Ok to edit this information manually for you in the Web interface.

Also before you submit, please review the submission guidelines carefully and compare your work with other Stock inventory.

Hope that helps.

Sometimes it also comes down to a matter of taste.

One person may love a lot of contrast and another less contrast.  For example when I used to dark room B&W some people liked the paper grade of 7 when others liked a much softer grade of 3 or 4.  Then there was the finish, matt or glossy.

It's just a file format nothing more or less to it unless we add context to it as to what you want to know specifically. Let's just start with what made you ask this, probably then we could discuss more on the topic.

On this site when submitting images there is an upload CSV. I understand the metadata is in this type of format

"file name", "short description", 'keywords", "country" etc.

Do you guys do this for every image? or only for images that are submitted?

Have you posted in the correct forum? You've posted in the InDesign forum.

However, your question seems to be related to Adobe Stock. Is that the case?

It's a file format for storing data. However as this article points out, it is not entirely standardized.
