Too much highlight that destroys details, and cast darkness on the rest of the image. The red area is artifacts. You needed to work with fill light which would add exposure to the trees and reduce the effect of the bright light. As @Nancy OShea points out, you need to be careful pointing your camera into the sun. Your camera manual should warn against that. It can cause damage to person and property.

The #1 rule in beginner photography is "never point your camera directly at the sun."  You risk burning up your sensor and capturing the wrong light levels.  The shots rarely turn out as expected either unless you're an experienced photographer with manual settings and special lens filters that make it possible. Counter-light pictures are very difficult to take. Your camera did not get the trees sharp, there is a lack of contrast and probably also an over exposure.
