Question

Adobe Stock Licensing

Hello,

I am wanting to use Adobe Stock images to help compose illustrations in a book that will be published. My question has to do with the standard vs extended license for Stock images. If I was to download an image with a standard license, would I have any issue with copyright or royalty if I used that image in the book? They would be used solely for background composition and they would be edited to a certain degree as well. I believe the standard license also limits the image to being used 500,000 times so would that mean the book can only be pulished that many times. Appreciate any clarification, thanks.

My opinion is that you can use the standard license for the assets you license for your book. One of the Standard License terms is:

  • Include the asset in some types of products, such as inside a textbook, as long as the primary value of the product is not the asset itself, and the product is not reproduced more than 500,000 times.
