Question

Free images for client's roll up

Dear all,

I would like to ask if it is possible to use some free images for the client's roll up. I made a design for client, they put company logo there and would like to put to banner (roll up) some images. Is it possible? The image will not be part of a client's logo. They have their logo, but the image will be present on the banner where the logo is as well. Is it necessary to put there the source of the image? If yes, it is useless.

Please do not refer me to the license terms, I read it many times  but they are not available in my mother tongue, so I do not understand it perfectly and I am not a lawyer 😞

Thank you for your help.

Tom

What is your mother tongue?

Let me state the obvious:

Free images come with a standard licence, so anything that fits a standard licence is OK. This also includes commercial projects. You need only to credit Adobe stock and the author if you are using the asset in an editorial way. Standard licences cannot be used for assets that get used on objects for sale: T-shirts, mugs, posters.

Now what are you doing: You want to license Adobe stock assets to be put on a roll-up display for a company or an organization. The roll-ups are not the product for sale. So, this is a great application for stock asset under a standard licence.

You may modify the asset so that it fits your needs. Using the companies logo with the asset or nearby the asset is no problem. It would be utterly limiting, if you would not be able to use an asset this way.

As I always do with licensing questions, I still point to the licensing terms. If there are still questions, please update this. If you want to get a qualified answer from a lawyer, you will need to ask one. I am not, and I don't have a formal training in law.

Look here for more information on licensing: https://community.adobe.com/t5/stock/links-for-licensing-terms/td-p/11366788
(Disclaimer: As always with licensing, this is my interpretation of the rules. I think they are correct and advice is based on reading and interpreting the licence terms and on fair use for both the buyer and the artist/stock company, but I cannot rule out that my interpretation is wrong. I'm not an Adobe employee).

Dear Abambo,

thank you very much for your reply and explanation. It seems clear now. The license are a bit confusing to me,I like the clear answer yes / no 🙂 And I want to avoid any problems for me or the clients. I tried to contact someone directly from Adobe via live chat, but the chat icon is not available (not displaying on my side). Last year they helped me with Photoshop so I thought they could hel me with these questions as well, but I was not successfull to contact Adobe "live person"

PS - My mother tongue is Czech.
