We are looking for ultra high resolution images. Does anyone have experience with this?
For example, is it also possible to obtain AI-generated images in a very high resolution?
We need the images for the production of 5 x 3 meter foil printing in 300 dpi resolution.
E.g. the image in the attachment

You want to print wallpapers for interiors, right?

The resolution of the assets are what they are. There is no higher resolution available. You will need to upscale, if you need a higher resolution, but that creates other problems, so you need to be skilled in that. The result is not always guaranteed to be better than the original asset.
However for something like 5x3m you normally don't need 300ppi images.

I've done some signage in the past and, depending on the distance from which such a large sign would be viewed, anywhere from 80 to 150 dpi would be adequate. That would give you some wiggle room if you were to purchase, say, a 30" x whatever" inch at 300 dpi and change the dpi to 80, then upscale and crop the image to fit your needed dimensions. But don't listen to me, as every case is different. I'd contact the company doing the printing and ask them specifically what they would need you to supply them with.

Your advise is correct. The only thing that I experienced: Printing companies often tell customers, they need 300ppi assets, even if it is not required. 80 ppi (at printing size) or even lower is probably OK. I have done work with 50 ppi. I did see that it was low resolution printing, but my customers did not put their nose on the print to check the result. They checked it at the correct distance.
Abstract images are anyhow more forgiving in this sense.

I was JUST going to suggest that. They also asked about upscaling. If the printing company is provided with the size specifications and a 300 dpi asset, it's quite possible the printing company would be happy to do the dpi conversations and upscaling themselves.

Or they shy away from the responsibility. A good printing company will give good advice about the correct resolution. At one stage I knew the rule of thumb for this, but currently I can't remember. 😩

That might also be true. In my case, I had a good working relationship with the printers, right down to them visiting the office to go over all the details and requirements. Most of my experience with large signage was with back-lit displays for trade shows and, quite honestly, I was always a nervous wreck about the final outcome until I'd receive a photograph of the display in action at the actual show.
