UK Contributors - tax form aid

Hi guys

I am based in the UK and I am interested in uploading some of my photographs to Adobe Stock.

I have not done this before as I have only recently taken photography up as a vocation. Can anyone from the UK who has been through the process, help me out?

The FAQ of what to do is not entirely clear to me, but what forms do I need to fill out or obtain to be able to sale my photographs via Adobe Stock and to be cosher with American and UK Tax law? There are a lot of forms listed and from what I can see it is mostly aimed at the users based in America, which is understandable.

If no one can help then naturally I'd go the route of contacting a tax advisor, but was interested to know if anyone could help.

Many thanks!

You need the Tax Withholding Form for Non-US Citizens, W8-BEN.

The Treaty Agreement between UK and US -- 12(1) means you pay 0% withholding.  🙂

For Adobe, you will have to file a W8-Ben tax form. For the UK, it is best to inquire. Here in Germany, I am required to have a business licence.

It's probably easier than you think. You will need to answer a few basic questions to get to the correct form. You fill in what is required, including your country. Mostly that's it. The form is just to prove to Adobe (and the IRS) that you are paying your taxes in the UK. And depending on the deal that has been done, you pay some taxes in the US and some taxes in the UK. The taxes in the US are withheld directly by Adobe, depending on this W-8BEN form… For the UK, this is 0%.
