Hi, if I use the free photos of adobe stock for editorial purposes, do I have to use any particular precautions? eg mention adobe and the photographer under the photo?
Yes, that's what the license will tell you. Read it, you have agreed to be bound by it.
The Adobe Stock license terms are shown here:

You need to refer to the license for the photos (although they are free, there is a license). In some situations you must credit.

Someone may be able to help you find the document, if you answer my question. In case you missed it:
Please reply (for them) whether you
- are using free Adobe photos as a regular user
- are using a free trial
- are part of an enterprise which gives you free stock
- something else
The reason to ask is that the license may be different.

If you are the administrator of an educational account, this is called an "enterprise" by Adobe (big company or any school). You MUST be sure to read the license terms for enterprise.
At the top of the linked page is a link for the enterprise terms.

Your statement that "free Adobe Stock images are only available for editorial use" is incorrect. The "free images" can be used commercially, but you must still comply with the Adobe Stock License Agreement in the manner in which they're used.
