When can we have a sexism filter in Adobe Stock?

If I search for "female construction worker" I have to look at pictures of half naked women riding drills, pressing power tools to their breasts and so on. If I search for almost any category of women, these kinds of "sexy" pictures turn up. Why? I don't need to look at that trying to create professional graphic design for serious clients. Can you please introduce a "sexism filter" to block these pictures out or something?

Hi Maria,

I understand your concern. Generally, the keywords are matched as given by the contributor on the image and your search. But I will pass this concern to the Stock Team.

Feel free to update this thread in case of any additional query.

Twarita

Thanks for answering. I think pictures like these should be blocked when Safe search is on. It contains keywords such as Sexy and Nude. Which type of keywords activates the Safe search filter, currently? I guess it has more to do with violence, blood and that kind of content. If you don't want to block 'sexy' pictures with Safe search, I think a Sexism filter would be great. Because these pictures are kind of degrading.

I was just going to send the same requests myself. The company I work for just switched from another stock site and their filter was Exclude Nudity. It wasn't perfect (part of why we are switching) but it did help. Thanks for passing the concern to the Stock team.

I am looking for a way to get rid of nudity in my searches. Metro Creative Graphics has  a check box to get rid of ALL NUDITY.

I don't want to look at this art when trying to find artwork. This is so ridiculous you can't filter out nudity!!!

Also do I have to state in my searches for "Heterosexual couples" instead of man on man and women on women?

All I want is a sweet man/woman couple for my SWEET ROMANCE book covers.

One thing Adobe Stock states is that you can't use their artwork in sexy ways on book covers, but you sure supply these images, which I don't want to look at. How can I get around this?

You canā€™t use them in pornography or by modifying the picture in a degrading way. But there is no prohibition of using them in a ā€œsexyā€ way. There is a huge difference between pornography and ā€œsexyā€ representation, even that this definition may change over time and culture.

Have you tried checking the 'Safe Search' box in your search filters?

Screen Shot 2017-09-18 at 2.03.15 PM.png

I tried it with 'Females With Power Drill' as a search term and it worked quite well. Didn't get rid of all of them of course but really cut the number down.

Thank you, but my Safe Search was already checked. One would think all the nude ladies should disappear, but no.

Still doesn't make a difference, in late 2022. I think Adobe doesn't see it as an issue. Apparently they prefer unprefessionalism.

I'm still looking for ways to filter out images I don't want to see. Some sites you can put keywords in to exclude. Is this going to be changing in the next month?

You will wait until Adobe officially announces changes to the filters. However, filters could be more restrictive as I don't think that the young lady given here as an example would fulfil the security requirements on a construction site. The problem with the "safe" filter is, that the picture as shown passes as the picture is safe... Unfortunately the definition of "safe" changes due to cultural and gender differences.

I so agree with that this is a problem. I am considering having our company switch back to Shutterstock or Getty.
