Question

Why Some photos with lower pixel counts sometimes shown larger in the search results page?

Sometimes I search for photos and the result is a variety of photos of different sizes. Naturally, I would expect if a picture is for example 1000pixels by 1000 pixels to appear smaller than 2000pixels by 2000 pixels but it seems the search results are not working that way.

This is getting even worse if the picture that you have taken has been vertical instead of horizontal.

So the question that I have is what are the criteria here? Is it random? Is it the aspect ratio?

Any insight will be appreciated.

Thank you

Images are scaled into a box. It would make no sense for pictures to appear a random mix of sizes, people want to be able to see the images they propose to buy.... A 1000 by 1000 pixel image would not be accepted by Adobe stock. The minimum size is 4 megapixels. Otherwise, image size and aspet ratio is not included in deciding the order of images to return. There will be other (secret) factors like whether an image is new, whether the image sells well, whether the contributor sells well, random rotation, keyword matching...

What is the specific problem you are facing?

The1000 by 1000 example was not a literal one.

Example 1:

320842374  with 5059 x 2845px apear larger than 334675158  with 7251 x 4839px and they are shown in the same row, same height but the lower resolution one has wider width!

Example 2, if you search for Zebra and scroll down you will encounter two photos side by side 69706252 with 5760 x 3840px appears with the same height as 483298793 with 6016 x 4016px. The second one should appear larger but it doesn't. This is the case for panorama pictures as well (Height specifically not length)

For some users, if the picture appears smaller it may affect their judgment in my opinion.
