Hi, When I use substance materials in my blender scene, it looks all fine. But whenever I change the filename that blender and substance material files are located, then whole materials are going to break and I can not fix it anymore unless manually adding again. Why does it happen?

Hi @Burak32998944hs00 , this happens because Blender looks for the files at a specific location. When the file name is changed, Blender tries to find the file at the previous location and is not able to, since the path it knows has changed.

For example, the same thing occurs if you are using an HDRI in a folder and then rename the folder in between sessions, causing the preview to turn magenta because it cannot be found. In general, it is good practice to define all paths at the start of the project so that connections are not broken later on.

If you want to ranme the folder where the textures are saved to at the start of the project, you can set that in the preferences using the "On save, copy textures to" option. By default this is set to substance tx/$matname. Simply replace "susbtance" to your folder name of choice.

Cheers,

Aldo
