Adobe Garamond -- Bold shows up as Semibold

When I select the Bold button in MS Word when using Adobe Garamond, what is rendered is Semibold (same when selecting Bold w/Italic).  Even manually selecting the "Bold" style from the drop-down font menu within the Adobe Garamond font family renders Semibold.  I have both the Bold and Semibold styles installed.  Disabling the Semibold/Semibold-Italic fonts doesn't help.  When those fonts are disabled, selecting B in Word just produces "fake" Bold.

I used to be able to select the Bold button in MS Word and the actual Bold style would be produced.  (In Pages and other applications, selecting the Bold button renders the Bold style correctly.)  Help?

If there's no obvious solution using the font files I already have on my computer, could I try downloading a different/later version?  That's worked for other malfunctions in the past.  (I purchased the 4-style R/B/I/BI family from Adobe.)

Microsoft is not able to help, so advice on how to fix the issue from Adobe is much appreciated.
