Here's a video of the lag for 2020 that never got fixed on 2021, I moved back to 2018. Simple tool changes, making shapes are grindingly slow. Ryzen 9 gtx 1080ti 64 gigs of 3400 ram win 10 Same issue for mac pro 2019 2.7GHz 12-Core Xeon E5-2697v2 processor 48GB memory 256GB Solid-State Drive AMD FirePro D500 x 2 with 3GB VRAM ------- Things tryied, turning on an off graphics card removed preferences tuned graphics card to adobe suggested settings unistalled/ reinstalled went through the optimizing setting new user profiles https://youtu.be/-DJrn2ICxUo

What type of scripting do you do? If it's just for action and automation, you can do it though their macros system. If your making your own plugins like using adobe extend scripts then no they don't.

I've moved to affinity suite. the only thing lacking is the shapebuilder tool in AI which is on their list to implement. Unfortuatlly I have to keep CC becuase of clients. I'm just wishing this Adobe nightmare would end. I gringe when i have to open photoshop, after effects or animate. They are trash programs at this point

Issue a lot of us are having is even with a full fresh copy. Some of the things I've done to try and fix this: Fresh install on all of Adobe CC, deleted profiles, created a new win admin account, made sure no plugins are installed, tuned up my $1000 pgu just for PS, called adobe and had them run me through all of that again.

I've been told Adobe doesn't care about this forum it's for the users not the devs, then gave me another forum with less people on it but still no answer. I think it's safe to say they are not going to address this issue becuase it's what happens when you have 20 year old code on new hardware. They are most likely playing the numbers game and are hoping that the number of users that don't have this issue are more than the ones that do.

I'm going to start this new thread for the new version of photoshop. There are hundreds of comments about 2020 being slow and laggy and not a single adobe rep has even acknowledged it. I was hoping the upgrade would solve everyone's issues but alas that isn't the case. So this thread is for all you old and newcomers with new and old machines where photoshop runs like crap to complain about. Maybe their newest software might be seen for them to do something. I'll go first: Ryzen 9, 64 gigs of 3200 ram, 1080 ti gfx, 1nvme 3200mb.s ssd for programs, 1 tb sata sdd cache drive, 2 tb WD black for files. Photoshop takes almost 3 seconds to do simple things like changing to a shape pen tool to make shapes. Lags on anything pen tool, and type tool Played with every setting in the performance and went through their pages on optimizing. I even went through the Nvidia setting but only gained a slight boost in performance.

So After talking to Adobe on FB, they made me do some stuff like uninstall, make a new windows account, ect.. They finally said they are going to send a ticket into engineering. Hopefully, they will look at the problem. My hypothesis is that PS is 20+ years old and they just crammed too much into it and now it's bloatware. I have been noticing it get slower and slower with each new version regardless of the new powerful speeds of machines and hardware. This seems to be par for the course for them, after all, look at what AE, flash, dreamweaver, ect has become. I hope they intend at some point redoing all their software or making the "Adobe Program", there is no reason why photoshop, illustrator, xd, or InDesign, or animate have to different programs, they all seem to have overlapping capabilities, they should just make one program at this point and let these old programs die.

Now, these might just a coincidence but it might something Adobe should look at. A couple of days ago some adobe servers went down and I called customer care to make sure it wasn't on my end. On the phone they asked me to plug in my email then rep from India told me of the problem. So I decided to take the day off since I couldn't access any of the Adobe programs, which I kinda think I should bill Adobe for my day rate missed. Anywho I get back to my machine later that day and my spam box is flooded, and I mean flooded with crazy spam. I believe Adobe's customer support is compromised and leaking email addresses to scammers.

I just bought affinity photo, it's half off and extremely fast and works better imo and I've been using PS since 1995. I got sick of having to jump from version to version. Like shape tools in 2018 are good but the smooth brushes are laggy. 2019 has better smooth brushes but shapes and pen tools are sticking. 2020 is unusable. I start about a month ago moving all my client's new projects to other software hopefully by this time next year I'll be cloud-free and stop paying monthly for bloated software that baby steps new functions and never fixes it's issues.

Welcome to the club, there are several threads about how PS 2020 is unusable on all types of systems and adobe performance fixes don't work. The only solution we found was to buy other software until they fix the issues. My system. AMD ryzen 9, gtx 1080ti, 128 gigs of 3300 ram, 1tb sdd for software, 1tb ssd for cache, 2 2k displays. 2 2tb harddrive for work and backup. I blow the specs away and this software doesn't run well. It's laggy and the brushes stick. Meanwhile I have no problem sculpting a 100million poylgon model in zbrush while watching nextflix on my other monitor. Adobe broke something and they need to fix it.
