What codec is the mov? H.264? Frame rate?

Try converting a few clips to ProRes or DNXHD before importing to Premiere and putting them on the timeline. Apply some grades with secondaries and see if you get same result. It's not a fix but it will indicate if the issue is related to the decoding of the H.264.

I can't read Arabic but here I have used the Adobe Arabic font and I don't seem to have these issues. Perhaps try this font and see if it happens.

Yes I understand how interlacing works (and I have a broadcast monitor on output) and I wouldn't normally choose 'Times New Roman'. It does however best demonstrate the issue, which is still visible on san-serif fonts. Top of the 'e' and both sides of the 'y'.

I'm generally a fan of all the new features and functionality of the new type tool (particularly pinning). However, what concerns me is the remarkable drop in rendering quality compared to the legacy title tool. Firstly, in INTERLACED sequences the rendering is clearly poorer than the legacy tool. I have both fields displayed. I have quality set to FULL. Note the top of the letter 'e' in the bottom text (type tool). This is at 200% zoom. Secondly, in PROGRESSIVE sequences, the difference is not as obvious - until you add strokes or drop shadows: (Legacy tool shown on top and new type tool underneath) Legacy tool shown on top and new type tool below. Here are the settings for each: Can anyone else testify to this issue?

You can have multiple instances of a clip in your project that all point to the same file and yes you could rename them - it won't break the link in Premiere. Having said that - I would not recommend renaming since it will add to potential confusion and it all depends on your workflow (where you ending up sending sequences from/to). Renaming might break some workflows. I'd use some of the other metadata columns such as 'Description' to differentiate clips. You can add spanned markers to clips - I don't think you can extend the previous marker with a keystroke but you can drag the marker in/out points on a clip(and snap to your out). You have to give the marker a duration first (in the marker properties dialogue box) which will make the in/out points separate so you can grab hold of one.

Petervanw - sounds crazy but try selecting the presets in a different order. If I select the IN preset and the ctrl select the OUT preset then drag both it doesn't work. But if I select the OUT first and then ctrl select the IN then dragging both applies as you expect.

Cross zoom appears to be working for me. Gradient wipe is a bit weird but I'm not sure how its supposed to work anyway - you can import images into it? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No fix that I know of. Open captions are veeerrrrrrry buggy. Adding an edge to text with a value of 1 changes it's position!? Also they stop my sequence from rendering. Remove the open captions layer and renders are fine again.

My current workaround: With the bin in list view and the column in question visible, type the metadata into the field on one clip. Copy it via Ctrl+C Hit enter and cursor will jump to to that field on next clip Paste via Ctrl V Hit enter and repeat. This only works for one metadata field at a time obviously.

Great, glad it's not just me. In a simple setup this, yes, I can workaround and just change effect order. Often though I have quite complex effect stacks and with carefully aligned positions etc. whereby I cannot change the effect order so easily. When I decide to uncheck the shutter-angle box in order to get motion blur it screws up my effect. In that case I usually have to rebuild the effect using some convoluted nesting stack. Adobe, can you reproduce and escalate?

Tried trashing prefs, makes no difference. Did you definitely have softness set to a high amount and drop shadow before the transform? Here again from scratch without animation. Simply toggling the shutter angle checkbox changes the position.

If I apply a drop shadow with a large softness and combine it with a transform effect: unchecking the "Use Composition's Shutter Angle", then the clip changes it's vertical position in the frame. Surely it should stay at the same height?

New video with context menus. Windows 10. For reference - this clip is DNXHD MXF from Avid via AAF. It comes in to premiere at 1920x1080 (0.3187) - vertical video and displays correctly out of the box due to the pixel aspect ratio.

Apologies, just realised the screen recording isn't showing context menus!!!??? I am right clicking on the clip and choosing those settings. Either way you can see it isn't working. Can anyone else confirm?

No sound required. Normally if you choose "scale to frame size" then the clip stretches to full frame but the Motion effects scale setting stays at 100%. If you choose "set to frame size" then the motion effects scale setting changes to scale the clip up to full frame. Currently the clip is at 34% scale. Choosing "set to frame size" should scale it to 100%.
