Specs: Captivate 9.0.2.421 Publishing to SWF Testing by publishing to server Testing with latest Chrome Problem code line: window.cpAPIInterface.setVariableValue("urlparam1", "NotDefined"); If I add this with or without other code in the script window on a slide - it works fine. If I try to add it anywhere in the standard.js file, the standard.htm file script block, or an external js file linked to standard.htm - it fails; Chrome console throws this error on that line: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'setVariableValue' of undefined Old programmer, but not as big on JS. I'm sure it's something stupid/minor, but I'm pulling out what little hair I have left. Thanks!

Also, if by "it didn't work" you mean that it didn't display in the droplist, you have to restart Captivate. Cap only gets that listing of files when it first opens.

Still nope. I've tried with both singles and doubles, and now no comments. It works in both previews within Captivate, and the SWF version works when published, but not the HTML5 one. Yes - the code is in a script window on the Enter of the first slide.

Cap 9.0.2.421 on Windows We publish some courses to both SWF and HTML5 and use the multiscreen file. However, some customized content doesn't behave or display properly on the HTML5 side. So: 1. Is there some undocumented Cap variable we can access to determine if the output being used is SWF or HTML? 2. Is there some JS I can use to determine it? I've tried if(typeof window.cp === 'undefined'){ /* SWF */ window.cpAPIInterface.setVariableValue("varOutputType","SWF"); } else { /* HTML5 */ window.cpAPIInterface.setVariableValue("varOutputType","HTML5"); } on the Enter of the first slide. It works for SWF (testing against the project.htm file) but just sits at the Loading screen for HTML5 (testing with the index.html file)

Something else to try: Don't have PowerPoint already open before trying to round trip from Captivate. Sometimes I forget and have it open, then switch to it while editing. Captivate doesn’t like to lose focus.

Belarc Advisor will list serial numbers of many installed apps. I'm not at my PC at the moment, so I can't check if Captivate is included, but it's a good app regardless.

You actually are using an end tag. Using <tag /> is the same as <tag></tag> and is acceptable any time there's no internal content. (So "<tag>somecontent</tag>" could not be written "<tag />somecontent" )

That's OK - thanks for the reminder about the update. I did a check for updates immediately after the install - that's what I meant about being surprised that it wasn't caught. I've reported the PPT 2016 issue as a bug.

Cap already recognizes the presentation in the library as a PowerPoint file, so the only option is "Edit with Microsoft PowerPoint". The generic "Edit with..." isn't available. Compatibility specifically with PPT 2016 is the point of the post.

No help for you, but I can confirm the same problem. Import works fine, but trying to round trip from Cap to edit a slide or edit the presentation throws an error. PowerPoint will open and you can make the edits, but when you try to save it to return to Cap, you get: If PowerPoint is already open with a different PPTX file open, Cap never opens the linked file and eventually returns: If you open the PPTX manually in PowerPoint and make edits, then shut down PowerPoint completely, Cap will recognize that the linked file is no longer current. Clicking the library red dot will synchronize with the updated PPTX, although it seems to take substantially longer than with PPT 2013. If you open the PPTX manually in PowerPoint and make edits, but PowerPoint is still running (even with only a different PPTX file open,) Cap will recognize that the linked file is no longer current, but clicking the library red dot will throw an error: Captivate 9.0.0.223 running as admin PowerPoint 2016 version 16.0.6965.2058

Can you try the space bar to toggle the check? That normally works in most apps; I haven't tried it in Captivate, and not currently on my PC to test.

As stated, there were times when Cap would show the message of # number instances replaced, but the text hadn't actually changed in the project. Also, I was specifically asking about the Replace All while the F/R dialog was filtered to Slide Notes/Closed Captions/TTS only - not All Object Types. Cache was cleared, Preferences not rest yet (will try). I'll wait for responses from others before reinstalling.

It does not remain active at all times: In my testing thus far, it only activates if there is something to change. Even if it was always active, Cap won't sense a change in the text if we have changed a pronunciation with the voice editor - hence the need to force the generation. As for the Find/Replace issue, as I stated - the problem is with Replace All. Find, Find All, and Replace work as intended.

As I stated, that Generate button is only available if Cap senses that the TTS text has changed; even then, it only generates audio for the ones that have changed - not all of the audio.

To add: I can't get Replace All to work at all, even on normal slide captions. It either reports 0 items changed, or reports that # items were changed, but they weren't actually changed in the captions.

Cap 9.0.1.320 on Windows One of my team is using TTS for narration. A couple of medical words aren't pronounced right, so we've edited the speech dictionary for Julie's voice. Question: Once you re-launch Cap and open the project, is there a way to force Cap to regenerate all the TTS audio? The only way I can get the Generate button to be available is to make an edit in the TTS text, and then it only generates the edited strings. These words appear across many slides, so that would be a pain. My next thought was use find/replace to intentionally misspell the words, then find/replace again to spell them correctly, but that leads to the possible bug. Bug: Using find/replace, you can specify to search in Slide Notes/Closed Captions/TTS, which I did. I entered the word to find, and a tweaked version to replace. If I click Find All, all the instances are shown in the dialog, so I know it can find them. If I click Replace All, it says 0 instances replaced and it doesn't replace them. Can someone else confirm this as a bug?

Meaning change it within the project during development, not changing in the published HTML or style sheet. I know the results wouldn't be seen until previewed or published. For color, specifically the fill of a shape, but if that can be done, it should apply to most object style properties.

I'm using v9, but that's the first place I looked. The HTML5 preloader is there (loader.gif) but I've already customized it. It had no effect on the SCORM spinner.
