Hi Blueship, you need first to have an obj object, which you can download from the web or create one using Cinema4D for example. An obj is a 3d object (in your case the deer). Then, import that obj file into after effect and place it in your composition. Now in the drop down menu you can select your obj.

Try to move move the new window on top of the composition panel (so they both share the same space), then select 'save changes to this workspace' from your workspace menu (click on the three lines next to your workspace, which sits in the top right corner of ae). It should now remember where to open the new window.

I've just realized I use Alt+mousewheel in After Effects too and I don't have any issue there. In fact if I press ALT in After Effects nothing happens.

Example 1: I was on the timeline, Alt+mousewheel to zoom in, then Shift+mousewheel, all good, then i press N to select the Rolling Edit Tool. When I pressed N, the sound plays! The Rolling Edit Tool didn't get selected. So I mouse clicked in the timeline again (which was already active) and press N again. Now it worked. Example 2: I was using the Rolling Edit Tool. The preview wasn't playing. Then I pressed V for the Selection Tool. The sound again! Example 3: I hit spacebar to play from the timeline, SHIFT+mousewheel to move, then spacebar again to stop. But it didn't stop. Sound! I wasn't on the timeline cause the File menu on the top left corner was selected (not open, just the color changed). How did I jump there? Had to click again in the timeline and hit spacebar to stop. Example 4: Preview was playing. I was on the timeline. ALT+mousewheel to zoom in. Hit spacebar to stop. Sound! It didn't work. I was again in the File menu. Had to click again on the timeline and hit spacebar. And so on also using the other tool shortcut (A, C... )... This sound is telling me that the shortcut I'm using is not working. This happens here with my new pc. Happened before, using another pc at the office. I can't believe I'm the only one here having this issue. Doesn't happen on Mac.

Hi everybody, this is something I really hate when I work on a Windows machine. I usually press V for the selection tool, A for the Track Select Forward Tool, C for the cutting Tool and so on... Basically I use shortcuts to change tool. And the spacebar to play and stop the preview. The Alt + mouse wheel to zoom in and out in the timeline and so on.. Basic stuff. I feel comfortable with that and work runs fast. Well, what happens is that sometimes an error/alert sound plays and cannot select the tool or play the preview using the spacebar. So I press it again, and another sound warning comes, then again.... and finally it works. But after a while (not even one minute) I do something else and tadaaaa the alert sound again. Really: one day I'll throw the pc out of the window or punch a random colleague in the face. When I'm on Mac no issues. On Windows always. Any help?

Hi everybody, every now and then I look into Cineware and check for improvements. It's a great frustration to see I can't get an AE camera rig to work in Cinema 4d. I create a composition and a camera and a 3d solid. I put keyframes in the camera point of interest, position, orientation and rotation. Export using Maxon Cineware 3d exporter from the file menu. Import that file in AE again, put it in the composition and set the cineware camera to 'Centered comp camera'. This way everything works perfectly I have the cinema 4d scene working in after effect. Same camera movement! And if I open the cinema 4d file I created with Cinema 4d, everything is perfect! All good. Start of animation in Cineware: End of animation with Cineware: End of animation in Cinema 4D Here's the problem: if I create a scene in AE with a camera linked to a 3d NULL object, something goes wrong. Everything in AE works fine but if I open the cinema 4d file with Cinema 4d the camera goes nuts. Start in cineware: End in Cineware End in Cinema 4d: It happens both with 'orient towards point of interest' and 'off' in AE auto-orientation settings. Is it what normally happens or is it something wrong with my software/workflow/settings?

I did reinstall Windows (for other reasons) and the problem is still there. I think is a keyboard issue at this point. I didn't install any driver and I don't want to install those 70MB Logitech SetPoint software. I should give it a try though. The pc is a custom built pc.

I've just discovered that, if I add the Windows key to those shortcuts, they work fine. So for example Ctrl+Alt+Home doesn't work, but Ctrl+Alt+Home+Windows works.. And that's not what's in the Shortcut file.

I'm subscribed to Adobe CC Cloud and running the last version. I've just moved from Mac to PC. Don't know what could interfere with AE really. I just have the adobe suite chrome and cinema 4d.

When I open AE on Windows 10 and try to move a layer up or down the shortcuts Ctrl+Alt+UpArrow or Ctrl+Alt+DownArrow don't work. Shortcuts Ctrl+Alt+Shift+UpArrow or If I use Ctrl+Alt+Shift+DownArrow work fine. Also Ctrl+Alt+Home doesn't work. After a while using AE (a few minutes) every shortcut works properly again. How can I fix this annoying problem? Is anybody experiencing the same? Any help? Cheers, Davide

Hi everybody, I just moved from Mac to Pc. Now when I resize the timeline panel or any other panel (but especially the timeline one), the interface is laggy. It proceds by steps. It's not fluid. It's struggling. I can work fine with that but I didn't expect such a poor experience. Why is that? Is it the graphic card (Gigabyte GTX1060 6GB)? Or is this cheap 4k monitor (Philips UHD UltraClear 4k)? Is it a driver missing or what? I didn't have such experience on Mac. Any idea? This also happen in Premiere. See you, Davide

Hi mate, you can always jump into your precomp and edit your animation there. If you need another copy of the same precomp, just go in the Project panel, duplicate it and drag it into your timeline where you need it. This second precomp is now independent from the first one. You might find useful to have an audio reference track for your animation in your precomps too.
