I haven't used Illustrator in a while and I'm finding that the pen tool now is a spline tool by default rather than bezier. I can't find the option to get the bezier behavior back.  Does anyone know how to get change it? Thanks! ... View more

I'm trying to make a design with geometric curves based on circles.  I have two circles, each with a quarter removed, and want to turn them into a smooth curve that flows gracefully between the two circular shapes.  So I made a new endpoint for each circle, but when I join them, all I get is a straight like and not a graceful curve transtion between the two endpoint.  I understand that's what's supposed to happen with Cmd/Ctrl-J, but could anyone please tell me if there's a tool for doing this, or any way to get a smooth transition between the two cicular shapes? If I manually tweak it, I loose my perfect circular shapes. Or I could break the angle of the joined points and tweak one side, but just checking to see if there's a better way. Thanks! ... I'm trying to trim a video into sections in AME and it would be helpful to have frame by frame control when setting the in and out points, rather that just dragging the marker.  Does anyone know if there's a command for step frame in AME?  Thanks! ... View more

I'm having a problem in which the project loads correctly, but then in little while, it disconnects from all the imported assets and replaces them with a blank object named "Recovered".  Please see attached image. I'm currently in the latest version, 23.5.0 (Build 52), but the problem began in the previous version.  I thought updating would fix it, but it hasn't. The project is on a local internal drive, so the problem isn't the connection.  Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you! PS - I came back to add that before it gets to the stage shown in the image, the first thing that happens is that only the Project panel is effected, with the names being replaced with "Recovered" and the icon showing as color bars, however the Timeline is still OK at that point, and I can even edit the comp as long as I don't click on any of the media in the Project window.  If I click on anything in the project window, for example, if I try reloading the media, at that point as soon as I click on one of them, all the layers in the Timeline are replaced with a small (I think 320 x 240) color bar image called "Recovered", as shown in the image, and all my media is gone.  As long as I don't touch anything in the Project window, and can still edit and render in the comp window.  I tried reimporting the project into a new project, but that didn't fix it.  Even if I open an older version of the project that didn't have this problem before, the problem is there.  I've tried restarting, as well, but no change. ... I have a comp of a scene built in AE 2023 that has an image projected to line up with the final frame of an animation. The effect is working well, except that I cannot add an other lights to the scene without the new lights also projecting the image from a different directions.  Is there a way to assign the projected image to just one light and then be able to add other lights withouth them projecting the image also?  I tried precomping the scene comp with continuous rasterization/collalse transformations, but then it still projects from added light.  Does anyone know the solution?  Thank you! ... Does anyone know of a way to import a list of names, currently in Excel, into separate text boxes in After Effects? The names are written in First Last format, as normally, with a space in between first and last.  I don't know how to create scripts, but I'm hoping someone might know of one I can download, maybe from AE Scipts, for example.
