Ian, considering most people assume that all of the data IS stored in XMP and are shocked to find their history etc. missing, I would have said that the default should be ON in this situation. More knowledgeable users who know they don't want it could then turn it off.

If the purpose is just for backup/transfer/security, perhaps I could throw another alternative into the net - how would it work for people if there was a LR-specific sidecar option, which could contain absolutely everything including History, flags, etc. Something like XMP sidecars, but without interfering with the XMP spec and without having to worry about it breaking other programs that use XMP.

At the end of the day, there apppears be agreement on one thing - different people have different workflows that they've been using to good effect for a long time now, and 3-4 years later is a bit late in the game to take away significant functionality, regardless of the arguments of which is 'best.' You're trying to push a river upstream. Hopefully Adobe will offer choice on this one.

The Bug details were : Product: Lightroom Bug number: 2633178 Version: 3.0 Build:LR3R43 Bug Title: Develop sharpening preview gets stuck Steps to Reproduce: 1. Apply major sharpening to raw photo - i.e. 150, 3.0, 100 - using PV2010. 2. Write that to xmp. 3. Create a new catalog, and import that photo amongst others, so that you're importing a photo with existing settings. 4. Switch to Develop module and view that photo. Actual Result: Sharpening isn't applied to Fit view until you move a slider or move to a different photo and back again. It is applied to the Detail preview. Expected Result: Expected the sharpening to be previewed once finished loading, but it doesn't happen without prompting.

Are these photos with existing settings, or are they new imports? Just try something for me - rather than zooming in and out again, flick to the next picture and back again instead. I'm wondering if you're seeing the same bug I reported a couple of weeks ago.

Click on the last one you were happy with, to go back to that point, and anything you do after that will overwrite the following steps.

It's in the same install package, but when you go to install it, check the 'show the files' checkbox (or whatever it says!!) in that installation dialog and find the setup32.exe file and double click that.

I do believe it would be a reasonable alternative to provide a decorated email address instead of a canonical email address, i.e. "Jochem van Dieten <forums@adobe.com>". Gets my vote too. I've switched from NNTP to RSS without loud complaint, but I would at least like to know who I'm reading. Victoria

Ok, I think I've got it sussed. All Content will show all of the threads... but if there are 2 or more consecutive posts on the same thread, without someone posting on another thread in the same forum in between, it will only show the last of those posts. It's tidier (no Re: all over the place) but it misses a load of posts. Discussion Messages (which is one of the feeds listed down the sidebar but not on the main listing) will show all of the posts, regardless of posting sequence, so appears to be the best for getting everything. So if you have threads A and B and post sequence A1, A2, B1, A3, B2, A4, A5, B3. All Content will show A2, B1, A3, B2, A5, B3 and it'll miss A1 and A4. Discussion Messages will show A1, A2, B1, A3, B2, A4, A5, B3. Anyone else as confused as I am?!

Ian, I'll join you in your confusion about which choice of RSS feed to go for, for each individual forum. All Content (per specific forum) would, I would have thought, be the logical choice, in order to read all posts, however that appears to miss a large number of posts which Discussion Messages feed picks up. Which feed choice will pick up all of the posts for a specific forum?
