Now that I have colored each row alternatively on a chart with 150 rows, InDesign has decided to crash my file when I edit text in this chart. I even saved the file as an .imdl file and reopened and saved it!

I did find the files after deleting files and restarting ID. I deleted the newly create ID files. Rebooted my computer and restarted ID. It isn't fixing the problem. I've set up Table and Cell Styles, and still cannot create a chart with Alternating Row Fills. For some reason, a cell style is removing any Alternating Row specification.

I did try to save as, but it wouldn't let me. I didn't try to save to a different HDD, but Tech tools reports my HDDs are all operating perfectly.

I am working in ID 2018. I save every major edit just to be sure I don't lose my work. At one point I paged to the front cover of my document. I selected and element on the front cover and this Warning Message appears: I click OK. I try to save once more, but the message is persistent and keeps popping up. I close without saving. From within ID, I reopen the file no problem and continue to work. This is all done while using ID 2018. Sometimes I create an IDML file and reopen in ID 2017 just to avoid this issue.

This is my personal desktop computer with 3 internal hdds so there is no server to go down. I closeed the file without saving and reopened the file from within ID 2018 with no problems.

Twice now I've received this message: It has prompted me to reinstall ID 2017 because I've lost time and edits. I thought maybe the latest version would have solved this, but no. I did not move this file in any way. Any ideas?

Yes. But all other agencies are doing it. Unfortunately, my best contact has left the company and I am dealing with others that don't use me as much. I've been doing work for this company, in some capacity, for some 32 years. First through an agency, and then when that agency closed, working for them independently. I'm trying to dodge a bullet here, and fear this might be the writing on the wall.

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this, but I need some advice about what has happened after handing over native files to a client. It seems all agencies that do business with this client hand over their native files to the client for printing/translating, etc. I have done the same. But now my contact at this client is asking me to fine tune and proof some in-house designer's use of MY FILES that have been adapted for a new product launch !?! Does this cross some kind of line? Or is the new reality?

I'm looking to create a PDF form where there is grayed placeholder text (i.e. "Name") that disappears when the user inserts their cursor, and then when they type, black text appears and remains. I've seen an explanation of how I can using coding in the Properties Menu/Format/Custom, but I can't seem to make it do the gray to black thing. Any help or link to information would be greatly appreciated.

I'm creating a PDF form for a client. I've seen where when you click on the PDF, only a copy of the original opens leaving the original intact. This way, whoever fills in the form has to save it as a new filled in PDF How is this done? On a Mac, I can designate the file as a Stationary Pad, but this is clumsy and leaves a file with the word "copy" in it's title. I want to open a new "Untitled" PDF that the user has to name. Can this be done? And how?

When working in a PDF document with Comments from a client (comment panel on right open - Tools>Comments>Open), Acrobat Pro DC lags with lots of spinning OSX beachball, then eventually an Acrobat crash. Is El Capitan compatible with Adobe? Or should I be asking the reverse? I find the same when working in Photoshop, especially when accessing fonts and using the Text tool. Holy cr@p this is frustrating!

That's fine if the vast majority of creative cloud users don't mind I already have a font managing system this is taking its place and I don't want it. there is no reason for Adobe to not ask me to take away my font management system and put theirs in its place. I understand. But when someone says go to this menu and JUST click to OFF button, I feel obligated to say that it does not turn it off. That’s why this is such an issue. So you're saying a plug-in developer has to deal with a company inserting their own competing plug-in that disables and/or steps in front of the 3rd-party plug-in?! You are obviously not seeing our point. Font Explorer works just fine, it just doesn't work with Adobe putting their plug-in in front of theirs... and then MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DISABLE!!!

So what your saying is any 3rd-party Type Management software has to be like an anti-virus program and battle everything Adobe throws at them?! I could see if it were an interface issue, or the 3rd-party software needed to adjust programming code... but this is like Microsoft putting their Internet Explorer in place of your favorite browser because you updated operating systems! ... and I believe Microsoft was fined in that case!

I don't and never have had TypeKit fonts. Please don't brush aside what seems to be a major annoyance that Adobe has put upon us. If Adobe would put in an ON/OFF switch (that works) this wouldn't be an issue.

I'm sure it's because of Adobe Typekit which cannot be disabled no matter what you try. I have the same issue with Illustrator. I use Font Explorer Pro, and Adobe Typekit supersedes it, now, in all my Adobe CC software. Kinda like what Microsoft did with switching Internet Explorer with your favorite browser when you loaded their newest OS until they were taken to court.
