Not sure what you want but if you want to make the cells larger then select the type tool. Then hover over the vertical lines that separate the cells. The cursor will change to a double arrow pointing left and right. Click and drag the line.

It could be that you have set it to no toolbar in a blank document . It will then become the default. Open Indesign and go to window-tools to show the toolbar then close Indesign. The default will then show the toolbar.

In your instructions point 13 tells you to use the direct selection tool (White arrow) You appear to be using the black arrow.

Thank you Bill for taking the trouble to give this answer. I have already tried the fixes you mention. The article was placed from a Word doc that they had used the Bullets and numbering to make the endnotes! I placed it saying 'Convert bullets and Numbering to text' and ended up with the endnotes as displayed in my image. Later some how I have manged to place it so the endnote numbers have a tab. Therefore it was easy to do it with find/change. I have marked your answer as correct. Thanks Ian

I have an Indesign document with over 100 endnotes. After each endnote number there is period. What would I enter into find/change to remove the periods but leave the number. Thanks Ian

Sorry I may not have made the problem clear. For a start they are endnotes not footnotes as I incorrectly said. The endnote numbers at the end not the numbers in the text are not able to be selected. Usually you can select the numbers and modify them. Some how the Word doc has been produced not with the normal endnote function but with hyperlinks or something which I can't figure out. I have circled the numbers.

I have a Word doc that I am placing in Indesign. The footnotes appear to have been made in the Word doc by hyperlinks. When placed in Indesign they are not selectible. Anyone know how to change them into normal footnotes? Thanks

Rob Can you explain further because I don't get the same result. If I change pages to 2" margins with one column earlier from the pages then change the master to two columns all the pages change.

Go to type-footnote options and you can change the starting position of footnotes eg. page, spread or section.

No worries. I solved it myself by selecting all pages in the pages panel then selecting "Allow selected spreads to shuffle".

Yes as I said I have tried to set facing pages but they remain as single pages. When I select facing pages I get this message. It does not matter whether I answer "yes" or "No" it still remains as single pages.

Somehow my pages have ended up like this and if I try to show as spreads they remain as single pages. I have tried going the IDML route and also trashed my preferences. Anybody know what it could be causing this? Thanks Ian

Thanks BarbBinder. I have already tried your first method. Your second worked except I can't delete the thing from my panel group on the right. I deleted it and set up up a workspace without it, however, it comes back at the bottom of the panels on restart. I am beginning to think Indesign is set up to always show it! Regards Ian

Using Indesign CC2015 with Windows 10. Each time it starts there is a CC libraries panel visible . I have tried everything to get rid of it. Set up workspce without it, deleted it with no files open. Any ideas on how to get rid of it?

I have a Indesign document that comes from a placed Word.doc. It has numerous symbols as shown in the image. (Like an A with a dot in it) It appears to be some sort of space marker. However, if I do a search to delete it many of the spaces I do not want deleted are deleted. Is it possible to do a search for just that marker and replace with a normal space?
