Thanks Neil, I already tried that. but it doesn't work. if you want to close program panel a error window appears when hit play. "A low level exception occurred in Adobe player player 60" So you can't close the program window, I also tried to hide it into tabs but it appears as soon as you hit play. Anyway, I can't complain much.... Resolve is even worst you can't even use a third screen playback in fullscreen without a buying a hardware. Thanks !

The only problem is that I would love to hide the program monitor, if it's one the same monitor I guess is under the mercury transmit now I'm seeing the program twice one in the main screen and small in a window in second screen. if I close it premiere gives a red error screen no playback

I just wanted to let this tip on the forum in case anyone else is suffering the same problem. I have a really really fast workstation but still my premiere can't playback simple prores422 HD without lag when using mercury transmit for full screen. My cuda GPU is a Nvidia Titan X 12Gb running on a Mac Pro 5,1 with 64Gb ram 2x2.4ghz Quad core Xeon, footage is playing directly from PCI SSDs with transfer data rate over 1500mb/s.... so what's going on? ...it seems that premiere is having problems to do mercury transmit if you have the program monitor on the same screen where you want the full screen. I just move my program window to another screen, and it works perfect. I don't understand why, but it does. hope this helps someone else. Cheers.

Thanks Stefan. But I'm not sure if adobe check those request. I did that already with others changes. Some of them unquestionable like why 3 steps of confirmation windows for creating a color matte when you could hit only one OK instead of what we are doing now: one [OK] click for size, then a [OK] click for color, then a [OK] click for name. I mean I don't think anyone would disagree on that upgrade and I guess is not that hard to modify and I already asked that request three times.

Yes ann. thanks I understand. But we do have different kind of paste. Like "Paste insert" in premiere or Paste in place in illustrator. is all about funtionality, I love premiere but there is something missing there, for example it doesn't have a delete gap function like others editing softwares, I'm wondering how many people use timelines as an auxiliar for edits... you can quickly check footage then preselect into another track or even organize by tracks in timeline. then you just copy and paste into the timeline where you are editing. That's my workflow for more than 15 years. But of course deleting the gaps is not a quick task in premiere. I got some tricks to do it fast but still it requires to create a color matte and three or four shortcuts

Hey is there a way to Copy two or more clips and Paste them in timeline all together without the space/gap that was between them ? I usually preselect clips on the timeline away from my edit and then Paste whatever I like in the middle of the edit or near where I want them. would be so amazing if premiere can paste without the gaps

Today I worked all day, lot of AE compositions and a lot of different kind of project in premiere with lumetri and realtime fx. no problem at all, except for 2 kernel panic crash, computer restarted. but that's common when working heavy duty this morning before turn on my mac, I opened it and I disconnect and reconnect the GPU and clean previous cleaning the mac inside. I know that can't be the reason. but so far is working fine. I hope it was just a bad day.

Thanks, I will do that. I'm not sure about a GPU issue. I mean, Premiere is working just fine, Lot of lumetris, Masks, gradient ramps, blurs, Types, alphas, even neat video plugin, everything almost in real time 4k. I think is something about the sizes of the layers in AE, can't explain but it sounds like a limit memory issue or exceded map image more than a melt graphic card that won't work.

nothing to update. all drivers are ok. I can't even work now.... I just drop two JPG to a comp an this is how it looks like... I hope is not the GPU. is a very expensive graphic card... and I was so happy finally with a perfect setup. Premiere and AE was incredible fast, same thing with renders in Cinema4D using Iray.

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately that didn't work. I turn off the "enable untested GPU for cuda" and the "hardware accelerate composition, layer and footage panels" I think is more a memory or size image problem, I precompose the image and now the drop shadow is working fine. it only goes crazy when I go with the softness on high numbers. I think my AE version is the latest, 14.2.1.34 I have a CC subscription.

Hi guys, I was working just fine, doing lots of AE composition with dynamic links on premiere. Comps are pretty simple, some background with 4 point gradients, some PNG images for the products, line beams and 3D camera. The problem started with some weird colours on the top of one composition. But now I can't even work, every time I add an effect, like drop shadow, blur, or anything the layer converts into some weird lines and colours, if I move the values sliders the preview shows sometimes the correct preview and sometimes the layer just disappear. Very weird. I hope this is a software problem and not my video card. anyone experienced this before? any ideas? I have a very tight deadline and I need to finish 35 videos this week I attached an example with a solid no fx, and same solid with drop shadow. yes, I use AME everyday. but I was looking for an easy workflow. I got a huge project with more than 60 bins and inside each bin another 4 bins of each camera selected footage. DJI and Gh5 needs to be transcode to prores. but I think I figure out. I did a new empty timeline, in project window I search for H.264 and I drop all the footage into that timeline, then I used the Render and replace command for all the footage, is not exactly what I wanted but at least it worked. I leave it all night rendering and this morning was all done, the only thing is that I need to delete the duplicate h264 files. but is all good. would be nice to have a way to transcode files from project window after imported Thanks for your help Neil.

I'm wondering if there is a easy way to transcode clips from the project window into full prores once they are already in the project. I know I can do proxies with a right click. but is there anyway to transcode and replace to high quality formats ? or force ingest of files that are already in the project? I got tons of clips already organised in the project, with bins and everything and I would like to transcode them directly to prores 422 with match settings. I tried making them offline then online back but ingest doesn't start. I could try making a new project and import only the bins with h264 cameras. but it will take forever. I would love to know if there is a command to transcode the clips I'm selecting.

Hi Neil, I understand I was asking too much, I didn't mean to blame my lovely 2010 mac pro, still a beast. I was wondering about the decoding process, is good to know that playback of compressed files are CPU even if you have a good cuda GPU. I do proxies, but this particular project is huge and I think it will take for ever to render proxies just to trash 75% of the material. with the prores files I did a fast playback to delete what I didn't want, but with the H264 files I can only play x2 speed, faster than that I get choppy playback. I will try to render proxies of a small portion to see how long it takes. Thanks,

Hi, I can't playback more than 30seconds of 4K without getting choppy playback. My guess is premiere is not using the GPU and the CPU can't decode the H264 codec as fast as it needs. changing the quality to 1/2 or 1/4 does nothing. changing the settings of the sequences doesn't improve it. I have a pretty good Cuda GPU, and all the footage is located on a really fast PCI volume, so I'm not sure what's going on. Maybe the H264 decoding is not thru the GPU, I check the activity monitor and the CPU loads goes really high when premiere is playing back the video. and i do have CUDA acceleration activated. my system: Mac Pro 2010 2x2.4Ghz Quad Core intel 64Gb Ram Nvidia Geforce GTX Titan X 12gb PCI OWC Accelsior Pro Q (footage is here) I do understand that H264 is a bad codec to edit. but I'm mixing footage from an atomos ninja inferno Prores with a Gh5 that records in H264. I always transcode everything to prores and it works perfectly smooth but in this case I have 30 hours of footage from the GH5 probably I will use only 25% so I don't want to transcode and I don't want to create proxy. any ideas to improve performance for h264? Hi guys, does anyone know if there is a preference or option that enables to change a label color for a clip in the project window and sync the change in label for the timelines? I got a lot of timelines with preselect footage coming from different cameras, I'm editing in 2K and some footage is in 4K I would love to have a different color label for all 4K so when editing I know I can resize those clips in my 2k edit. So the easiest way I found to do it is in project window add the metadata of frame size, and change label color for all 4K files. Problem is that it doesn't change to the timelines I already work on the edits. It just keep the color for new timelines when dropping the clips on the timeline. Thanks Adobe Premiere CC 2017.1.1 !

Hey you don't need to get mad. I already gave you a solution, but maybe you didn't get it. Export the video from AE in quicktime with coded none *uncompressed then open it on quicktime 7 and export it to .avi with millions of colors + alpha. you will end up with an AVI file with alpha with codec uncompressed that I'm sure they will be able to use

you can always export an image sequence with a audio file same duration. that's a good option. An uncompressed video should work too. or you can export an avi from quicktime 7 or ask them if there is any other video codec that will work.

Hi idanc555, can you explain a bit more? if you are trying to use an AE camera and you want the layers to move in screen to simulate a camera travelling you will need to activate the layers in 3D. if you are tracking a video that using as a background you will need to track your camera first

Hi everyone, I search on the forum but the post I found are from 2016. I have a really stable system running on yosemite, a few crashes during a heavy duty week but nothing serious. Premiere runs smooth and fast. But I need Cuda 8.0 for Iray plugin in Cinema4D. The only way to update to Cuda 8.0 is to move forward to El capitan. Any big issues with el Capitan? Any problem with drivers? Mac Pro (Mid 2010) 5,1 2x2,4Ghz 64Gb Ram NVIDIA titan x 12gb Softraid for internal SSD raid and PCI harddrives. I guess El capitan should be stable but if anyone have bad experience please let me know Thanks!

Hey, thanks for that info. so here is what I did, on the graphic card, I changed my 680 for the TITAN X. 1080ti doesn't works with osx10.10 I tried to buy the titan x from Macvidcards, but no answer from them. but I found a UK company called Create Pro, they answer me fast and they got my card ready in a couple of days. great guys. for the memory I upgrade from OWC 8Gx8 so now I got 64gb of RAM drive space, I bought a second 4Tb for internal. I already got 2 SSD 500g internal bay, one for OS X one for video. and I bought a 2Tb PCI from owc speeds using is 1600mb/s !!! I also bought an older version, with no SSD very cheap and I installed a 1Tb G tech SSD I got for my atomos recorder speeds are 530mb/s not bad. I also added a PCI USB 3.0 sonnet allegro. this week is going to be my first week working with the upgrades. I let you know if it was worth it. So far I spent a lot of money but I would say less than half of a brand new PC workstation

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I'm going with a similar decision. I will try to keep my 5,1 mac pro for at least one or two more years. and then I will buy a PC. I'm buying a nvidia GTX Titan X 12gb I hope this will work on a pc later. (not sure about that) + a PCIe ssd + 64gb ram. I still need to find a way to increase the amount of space for my media, right now I got 2 500gb SSD for media and a 4T for time capsule. my last project is 5tb just for media so I still need to find a solution about hard drive space. 5tb of footage for just one project will be really expensive for ssd.

Thanks, yes I think I will do the same thing. I will try to change my 680nvidia card for something better and newer and add more ram. I already ssd. good to know that someone else is also thinking the same.
