I had a chance to do a test to compare my results with yours. My MBP is a M1 MAX 64GB, 2TB SSD. All tests were on the internal drive. I am working with 45MP Nikon Z 8, HE* NEF files that are about 32MB each on the drive. I exported to .jpgs, quality 60, 2500 pixels on the long side. I did the export first, then did a folder sync so I could get separate times for the export and import. My times were: 250 images Export - 5 minutes 7 seconds Import (folder sync) 1 min 0 seconds. Extrapolated to 1000 images Export 20 min 28 sec Import 4 minutes Please answer my questions in my previous post. I'm a PC and Mac user. My experience with this situation is limited to my PC system but it may apply to Macs as well. A corrupt catalog can cause that behavior.  If resetting preferences does not fix it for you. Try a backup catalog. Also, if Lightroom Classic was not properly shut down, it will leave a XXXXX.lock file in your Lightroom Classic folder. XXXX represents the name of your catalog. What profile are you using in Lightroom Classic with your Z6III files? You can find that by looking in the Develop module -> right hand side at the top of the Basic panel. Many users are having better luck (especially on noise) using the Camera Standard profile. In Nikon Z cameras, you can set that to your liking in the Photo Shooting Menu -> Set Picture Control. I always pick STD (standard) because I like to start processing with a neutral image.  If you like what you see using the Camera Standard profile, in Lightroom Classic preferences, you can make that the default. Here is how: Preferences -> Presets -> Global, choose Camera Settings. Do not check "Override global settings for specific cameras" unless you specify a specific camera in the following section. Your catalog is not especially large. Mine is 180,000 images and backs up to a dedicated internal SSD in about 3-4 minutes. Try backing up to the internal SSD. Check the Lightroom Classic folder for a ".lock" file. That file is created when LrC starts up to prevent other copies of LrC from running at the same time. If you find it, delete ONLY that file which will be "your catalog name.lock". The lock file is normally deleted when LrC shuts down, but if it does not shut down normally, like a computer crash, the .lock file is left in place. The other possibility is a corrupt catalog. I use Lightroom Classic (LrC) with the Creative Cloud system. However, I recently had a similar issue with LrC. Shortly after building a new computer and installing all my apps, LrC would not open. I turns out that defective RAM in that new machine corrupted the catalog. Once I replaced the defective ram and used a backup catalog. That configuration should be zippy. I have a similar setup with Catalog on dedicated SSD and other dedicated HD for the image files. Sill, the operations you describe as slow are mostly related to disk access. Take a look at this video on checking your hard drive. Those symptoms might indicate an issue with the drive on your system where the photo files are located. If this machine was mine, I would do the following: Verify the power supply is adequate for the system wattage requirement. Disassemble all parts, clean board contacts with a soft pencil eraser (be sure the debris is removed) Pull the CPU cooler, clean the paste residue and apply new high quality thermal paste. Reassemble, paying close attention to making sure all components are fully seated and connections complete and tight. How long has this been happening? How old is the computer? I suspect the cooling system for your computer is not working properly. Check to see that all the fans are spinning up and all the cooling vents, intake and output are clear. Some cases have screen filters where the air enters. Those need to be cleaned periodically. Also check the fan/s on the CPU cooler and the radiator for blockage with dust.     ... View more
