Conrad is correct. The cloud storage that Lightroom uses isn't the same as the Creative Cloud storage. Hi John, I only take family photos really and used Adobe Revel for storage and sharing, but they closed it last year. As a heads up, In the closure notice they said that cloud storage would come to Lightroom CC some point. It kind of is at the moment with Lightroom Mobile and Web (to which you can upload hi res and RAWs) but (A) It isn't guaranteed as a backup and (B) means  working in a totally non-standard way in Lightroom Desktop. Therefore not really recommended, although it's my workflow as I'm looking for a Revel type solution. Yes it does Rikk. The thing is, I am not the recipient of the Collection link. Say my family want to download some photos to print off etc. This of course may be by design. Ah yes Rikk, you can already. I allowed downloads, shared a link and copied it to another browser (that I wasn't logged in on). Then I can download the whole Collection. But, when you go to a single photo there is no option for original, only a low res. At least I think so. Maybe I should have been more detailed on my original post. Actually, just opened up the whole collection download in PS and they only appear under 500kb and 2048px width @72dpi. Although in image size is says 7.97M etc. Something I am missing/don't understand? A typical original would be 6000px @ 300dpi. ... View more

Hi Aaron, I have only shared a link from Lightroom Mobile, but even from there I don't think a recipient of a Collection link cannot download a full res photo (although a jpeg of a smart preview may be enough for some requirements). I assume a link directly from Lightroom Desktop puts Smart Previews to Adobe Server much like it does when you sync a Collection from Desktop to Lightroom Mobile. So if you even if they can download from that link they wouldn't be able to access the photo I believe. Indeed Theresa, it works but the knowledge around it doesn't seem that abundant. And it can just confuse matters, using both workflows. Probably not advisable unless you have a clear handle on the process or until Adobe's Cloud offering matures. I tested again with Lr Mobile Sync Paused in Lr Desktop. I Imported XXXX.NEF into Lr Desktop. I imported XXXX.NEF into Lr Web And then unpaused the Sync in Lr Desktop. The result was that there were two files in the Catalog. XXXX.NEF that was the import from my HD and XXXX.NEF Copy that appeared in the Collection Synced back 'From LR Mobile'. However when I selected XXXX.NEF copy and 'Show in Finder' it directed me to the location of the import from my HD (and not to the Mobile Downloads folder). So, Lightroom must know not to duplicate on the HD even though there are two versions in the Catalog. ... View more

After a few tests to confirm, mostly what I had experienced previously: If you upload a file to Lr Web first, then try to Import the same file into synced LR Desktop, it will not (if 'Don't Import Suspected Duplicates' is ticked) as the Original has already been synced back to the Desktop. If you Import a file into Lr Desktop first, share a Collection (with that file in, which will only then be a Smart Preview) to Lr Mobile, then try to upload the original to Lr Web, it will not, as it's considered a duplicate. Both which are expected (although a bit of a shame you can't overwrite the Smart Preview in the Cloud/Lr Web with the Original). I haven't tried to upload to both platforms, then turn sync on. I only upload to Lightroom Web as I'm an ex-Adobe Revel customer and this is Adobe's solution closest to that (even though online storage isn't official yet). It allows me to share the high res files with family and friends and view my whole Catalog/Library in Lr Mobile. And gives me pretty much all the editing I need. My knowledge of Lightroom Desktop is minimal and as such I am not quite sure the way it treats duplicates. If signed in, the RAWs uploaded to LrW will try to sync back from the Cloud at some point. If the RAWs have also been added to Lr Desktop then is Lightroom clever enough to know it doesn't need to sync them back from the Cloud again (to the 'From LR Mobile' Folder). Hi Theresa & Elie, I may have misread some of the posts, but If heathere87804991 has uploaded RAWs direct into Adobe Photoshop Lightroom then are these not original resolution in the Cloud? (My understanding is that they are & I have just uploaded a .NEF and it seems to be 18MB). If then all is okay in Lr Desktop (logged in and synced) these originals should automatically sync back to a "From Lr Mobile" folder, shouldn't they? From what I have read Bruce, I think that's correct. I'm not even sure that the Smart Previews always remain on your Phone unless they are cached. I think sometlimes just thumbnails reside and the Smarts (or Originals, if you have those in the Cloud) are synced back to the device as required. ... View more

Yes Bruce, Smart Previews are synced to the Cloud and then to LR Mobile. Photos uploaded through LR Mobile and LR Web will  sync back via the Cloud to LR Desktop as Full Resultion. ... View more

Hi Stefan, Would the Catalog clash possibly be happening when signing in and/or syncing (within both LR Desktop and LR Mobile) is done after photos are taken on the mobile device? Thus the Catalogs can't be merged? If this is the case then when LR Mobile is first opened Adobe should have a warning that if you have CC and intending to Sync with the Desktop, do it now, before taking photos. Obviously don't sync and delete your photos. Hi, From the Originals in the Cloud aspect, If you have a CC account then technically you could upload your Originals to Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and they would sync back (the Originals) to LR Desktop and (Smart Previews to) any Mobile devices you may have. Edits made on any device will sync if they are all signed in. It is not guaranteed as a back up solution but hopefully this will come, therefore it's best to test it and have your Originals additionally backed up elsewhere. The photos appear under 'From LR Mobile' in LR Desktop. Note: Syncs from LR Desktop to the Cloud only upload Smart Previews. Maybe give it a try but there are others more knowledgeable than me to give you guidance on how to use Lightroom. Unsure myself what happens when if you sync collections up then upload the Originals to through the Web Browser.
