In any case there will be a difference because the display as my example; is only displaying 94% of the Rec709 gamut. If it were 99%, I wouldn't be posted this question. It is that 6% difference I want to see what is changing between the actual gamut in the image, and that which my display can display. It may only be small; maybe less green is shown, or; less red is shown for my display. To which I can use an adjustment level or curves and try to match it the best I can. Basically, I just want to know how to view the color difference using what it is sorta intended to do using soft proofing which doesn't have to be strictly used for print.

When you have an image in a specifc color space, lets assume Rec709; I know Photographers are use to color spaces such as ProPhotoRGB etc but for me I'm working with a different arena of color spaces. Anyhow, the display which I'm displaying those images, can only display 94% of Rec709, that leaves about 6% color difference. I obviously don't want to change the original image, incase it gets viewed on a display which can display the full gamut of Rec709; rather, I want to find and adjust those colors for my specific display so that they match that of the original Rec709 exactly or very close. From what I understand, soft proofing is what I would need; or is there something else ?

It turned out, my original way of acheiving this was not going to work. The solution is just to take the parts of the image I want; using clone stamp and content aware fill, worked out.

You doing it in extreme. You want to keep the info of the image but if there are highlights or shadows from when the image was taken, you want those removed.

Acctually, mostly everyone was wrong, including davescm. What I wanted is not to use another program, instead; within Photoshop take a image and completely remove any and all highlights and shadows from an image, that means make the image completely flat looking. I was informed this can be done with done with a luminsity mask and equalization to get the foundation ? Basically color grading textures if that is the correct term ?

I was informed I could create a proof setup in Photoshop then whatever colors which are outside of the gamut for the display device, Photoshop could show those colors ? It sounds as if this is not possible and the only way to do this is though the software colorthink ?

I found the solution, take an image, if it's for example an evening image as in my situation, apply a levels adjustment layer, make the image even darker. Save the LUT, apply it to any image, if it's good or you need it a little darker, apply another levels adjustment layer; save that once again as a LUT, in my situation that is all that was needed and the resulting LUT makes an image look as if it was taken in the evening.

I have tried them all, only one gives me the evening look; although the image which I want to create a LUT from is an evening image but I compare to say the Moonlight.3DL I don't know why it's not causing the image to be dark as if it were evening.

I'm hoping someone can help, as I need alot of control over the colors which get applied to an image via a LUT file. For example; suppose I have a very dark image, dark as in, it was taken in the evening. I save a 3D LUT file from this image within Photoshop, considering the image I created the 3D LUT from does not show any reds etc, not that they don't exist, one just doesn't see those reds with the naked eye. If I take the 3D LUT and apply it to an image which may have been shot in the day hours and contains alot of red, the goal of applying my 3D LUT to the day light image, so to speak is to make it dark, as if it was evening, although that is not happening when I take the evening image, create a 3D LUT from that image and apply it to a day light image which contains alot of red etc. How do I get the daylight image to look as if it was shot in the evening ?
